Black- 1998 Trans am WS6
Mine did the same thing a month ago. For now I fixed the problem by rotating the gear 180 degrees. This works because only half of the gear is in use each time the headlights operate, thus the other side of the gear is brand new. I used the following for instruction on how to do so:[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuolISwRJJg"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuolISwRJJg[/ame] . If the link doesn't work go to youtube.com and type in "4th Gen Firebird Trans Am Headlight Fix". It was a quick ten minute fix. I hope this helps.

Pewter Metallic- 2002 Pontiac Trans AM
i got a new motor from autozone for 70 lifetime warranty seemed like a great idea..the brass one will work make sure you put some good grease on it it will probably come w/ some. also after you put it in be sure to get channel locks and clamp those 4 ears down very tight beacuse thats the main reason the gear strips..the slack of the housing puts slack on the gear and strips it..theres a write-up on his site saying exactly how to do it all..g'luck

I didn't want to make a new thread but here is the problem when i bought my T/A the guy told me that he had the metal Gears installed i heard no grinding what so ever my driver side went up no problem but the other side didn't go up the lights were on but wouldn't go up so when i got home i thought the motor was done but i went back after about 10 to 15 min. and went to take a closer look i turned the lights on and they went up fine what could this be? what need to be done?

yep, could just be a loose wire. Another thing you can check is the armature on the motor and make sure it isn't getting in a bind.

Yeah i am going to take a look tomorrow and check that cause like i said everything else seems to work fine. i went out again and turn the lights on again they went up but i did hear a squeak in that light when it stopped.
