    You are smarter then you think you are lol I have heard stories on two separate occasions from fellow technicians I worked with that had pulled heads on cars that left the factory without a head gasket installed. One of them the head got pulled for a reason that had nothing to do with anything related to the head gasket. The machining of both the heads and the deck of the block if its DEAD ON BALLS perfect can sometimes be enough for an engine to run. Beyond me how shit doesnt leak etc

    It is impressive there wasn't an over heating concern. Head gaskets usually have restrictor holes in the coolant passages from the block to the head

    MANY Nissan 4 cylinders were built without head gaskets. Weird.

    Well the gasket is to help seal it and if they are both machined right on, then why would it leak? I'd never attempt to go without one, however I guess thats one thing that won't fail later on.
