Safest way to remove road salt?

I was wondering what the safest way to remove road salt would be? I drive me car daily so it is DIRTY! It is also black so any little swirls will be noticed...

Should i take it to a no touch car wash to get most of the salt off and then rewash it by hand? Or just wash it by hand?

I'd rinse off well with moderately powerful spray. Try to remove all the salt that way. Then wash by hand. If it leaves marks you can clay bar it to remove them. Black is soooo hard to keep clean! That's why mine sleeps till the salt is gone.

Take it to the car wash, spray the car off really good. Next get a bucket of water and some dawn dish soap and lather up the car good, rinse off, and follow up with wax.

Make sure to wash the underside so the salt does not rust anything down there either.

i like to use the no touch car washes. it gets like 90% of the bad stuff off (salt, sand ect) and some have an underbody spray for a couple bucks more.

yeah the one near my house has the undercarriage spray... i think i will hit that car wash and then wash it by hand when i get home. I will most likely clay it and wax it after

hand wash it with a mit that has a porous surface (that traps the contaminents) use a car wash soap, not dawn unless you want to strip your current wax off.

i have mirco fiber wash mits and i use one for the top half and one for the bottom... would that be porous enough?

Pre soak the car-via foam cannon- with a quality car wash that contains essential oils that allow grit to safely be removed without grinding it into the cars finish. After presoak, rinse the entire car. Now- using the two bucket system with a grit gaurd in each bucket- wash the car from the top down using a quality microfiber mitt making sure to rinse the mitt in bucket #1(which contains clean h2o) before dipping the mitt in bucket #2(which contains your car wash soap/h2o). Depending how dirty the car is you may put fresh h2o in both buckets a few times during a wash. Do a body panel or two at a time then rinse and continue. Dry with a quality waffle weave microfiber towel.

well snow just hit us again

. The snow/rain from the past few days actually took care of most of the salt that was stuck on. Maybe next week i can give it a good detail.

The trans am is my beater haha I just take really good care of it. I also have 72 c10 with a 396 sitting under the hood. For me there is no point in having 2 cars sitting in the drive way. I work part time and I going to school full time so 3 cars that i have to insure is a bit insane. Your right though a real beater car would solve all my problems!
