Deciding on a Cam setup
Alright, So i have a 2000 m6 trans am with full exhaust. and im having trouble deciding on a cam kit. (cam, springs and PR). I would like to get as big a cam i can get to fit my 62cc heads without flycutting.
Im also adding the:
Fast 92/92,
25% UD pulley
harland sharp Rocker kit
Gears (eventually)
Injectors
Can Anyone give me advice on a cam kit or anything else that i maybe missing?
Thanks a bunch
~Jeff

what do you want to do with the car, drag race, auto x, weekend toy, or daily driver? this will tell you what operating range the motor will be in most of the time.
a big cam will make great peak dyno numbers, but lose alot of power under the curve compared to the right small cam. if you want to go with a huge cam and make power, plan on ported and milled heads to get the airflow and compression you need to support the cam, and flycutting the pistons for clearance.... otherwise you will endup with a dog that only sounds like a beast while sitting at a stop light.

First i wanna thank everyone for the replies. The cart is going to be mostly a street toy but i do plan on taking it to the track here and there. Maybe saying a big cam is a bit to extreme, thats my bad. Does anyone have an idea on what would be a good cam for my mods? The reason I dont want to flycut because im doing the swap with the block still in the car.
806 casting (ported 2.05,1.6 and milled to 62cc)
ported fast 92/92
pacesetters and slp LM1

I'd look at around a 228-230 with just under .600" lift on a 112-113 lsa, when you get over the 230s you run the risk of needing to fly cut, and if you stay under .600" lift your valve springs will last longer

Lol true and I am guilty of that aswell. I started with a 220/224 and then moved up to a 238/242 with a 3,800 stall in my daily driver...that's why If some really wants a cam, but not really sure what to expect out of it or exactly what they are going to do with the car I recomend the good happy medium, the 228.
I'm sure you and I have a different opinion of tolerable daily driver than someone who hasn't driven a cammed car and gotten used to it. I don't mind bitchy, lol and honestly kinda like it but most don't.

It would be really nice if we all had great friends that trusted us enough to drive their cammed up cars before we started modding our own cars so we could get a taste of it.

Agree again. 228 is good all around. I started with a 224/224. THen I got a beater and jumped to a 232/236. I'm happy with this cam but wouldn't want to DD it.

Now I'm tring to get the stroker tuned in with this same cam and I think the extra 60 cubes really tamed the cam down and made it a lot more street friendly
