Yea I was thinking she would be doing it for medical bills or whatever but my mom talked to one of her insurance friends to get some advice or idk what but he said she might be doing this so I could pay off her truck, since it was a brand new honda cr-v with the paper plates and all so the insurance might of paid her the value of the truck but since that does decrease as soon as its off the lot then she still owes money right? And she wants me to pay that for her, but once I get the papers he said to call my insurance and they will give me a lawyer and basically, most likely, hopefully this lady will get fucked and I won't have to pay shit but then I don't know exactly what this is about till I get the papers tomorrow at noon...
Btw I don't believe you guys about going to jail! I paid my ticket for "causing a accident"

how fucking stupid are some people on this site? its a civil suit not a criminal case. they don't send you to jail for a civil suit . there is no more debtors prison anymore, they just attach your wages. in this great country of ours there is criminal courts and civil court. when a person serves you a summons its for 1 of 2 things, either the criminal court need your testimony in a criminal court case, and like in your situation they want you to appear for a civil suit against you(or to testify). take the summons as after the 3rd try they just pin it to you door and consider you served. if you don't show you loose in absentia. call your insurance company. if it was anything criminal the boys in blue give you a free ride to court to be served

Keep in mind if the insurance company provides a lawyer, that lawyer is representing the insurance company, not you. He/she does not necessarily have your best interest in mind. If you're getting sued for any sort of substantial amount, I'd consider hiring a lawyer yourself.

The lady just called me to tell me she's on her way to serve me..... I'm scared/nervous/anxious but for some reason Pineapple Express keeps popping up in my head and makes me laugh

You need a lawyer. It is that simple. Wait until you have been served and then shop for the appropriate lawyer to represent you.
I have been through many different issues with legal issues and lawyers throughout my business careers... You need to know the facts (when you are served you will have that information), and then you need to protect yourself since your insurance company will protect their own best interest, regardless of your position, innocense, or culpability.
