6.0 knock ???
i have a 6.o chevy truck motor... with the alum 317 heads its an 05.......the guy who sold it to me said it had a knock how do i go about this problem....to diagnose what it actually is .........

look for codes. take it to a good shop.

Seems to me like you purchased the engine only, in that case what kind of knock did he say it was? And how did it start knocking?
If it was ran with no oil or hot or something maybe its a rod. Yet if it was an over-rev then maybe your lucky and its just a bent push-rod, you can check those by simply pulling the value covers off and the rockers.
Let us know what happens.

well aint really sure when the motor was in the truck the knock sounded like it came from the right side block it was like a lifter tap but a lil deeper sounding
