or how about buying a American built Hyundai Sonata or Santa Fe. 2010 Santa Fe 3.5 v6 makes 276 horsepower and the new 2011 Sonata is beautiful.

Yeah I work at a Toyota dealer. Initially I think it was that Toyota was either "thinking" or blaming the issue on bunched up floormats, which IS possible with all the shit people put in their car. But when it turns out that multiple people are having the issue, and they are taking the mats out completely and it still happens, they went further. So I believe they are replacing the gas pedals now. Well I know for a fact my dealer doesnt have the parts yet. I think this effects MILLIONS of cars, so the parts supplier is probably goin nuts trying to meet the demands. In the meantime hopefully people can put be fortunate enough to be able to put the car in neutral and shut the car off and not crash if the issue does happen.
This sort of stuff with the way recalls happen is NOT uncommon with auto manufacturers. You just dont necessarily always hear about it, but because this pertains to accelerators and its Toyota its getting a lot of press. But every car line i've worked on has recalls. Nissan has books FULL of recalls.

Its just that whole Toyotas are superior built cars when anyone that actually works in the industry knows they're not much better than anyother manufacturer. I know a Toyota service writer. He claims the Tundra frames are built in the same US steel plant as the GM frames. No answer when I mentioned the GM frames don't rot out in 5 years
Stanger you guys still getting 2.2 oil sludging repairs?Last edited by GTP231; 01-26-2010 at 06:53 PM.

Only seen V6 sludge cars at the shop I work at and they werent there for the "problem". I havent been there that long. Only a month.
The toyota truck frames just arent good period. In addition to the rot, they arent fully boxed either. The new tundra drives beautiful till you hit any kind of road irregularities, speed bumps etc The whole truck shakes and you can basically feel the chassis itself flex. All fullsize pickups have a stiff ride but it takes like nothing to totally upset the whole cabin in the tundra. Whereas the F150's drive like a dream in comparison. The two things toyota did real well on with that truck is the brakes and powertrain. That 5.7 kicks ass.

Personally I think the Toyotas are pretty damn good cars. ALL CARS have problems and break, and all car lines have pain in the ass customers that bitch and want shit done for free. Go to any car line and go talk to techs and youll get the real answers. However Toyota for the most part doesnt have a lot of the stupid problems other carlines have. For example I worked at a Hyundai dealer for a year and their quality is better then its ever been and they have a BOOMING product line. However, they have so much electrical bullshit its ridiculous. I never used my test light and volt meter in 5 yrs at ford as much as i did at 1 yr of hyundai. It was constant. Their engines and transes were great. Toyota in comparison has occasional electrical issues in comparison and lots of the time its actual components and not the wiring itself that has the problem. Lots of the driveline issues they have are common from what i've seen or someone actually fucked the car up. Lots of the engine lights i've looked at all had TSB's on the issue. So that makes life so much easier.
Things I dont like about Toyota is their product line is as boring as a high school history class, and theres ZERO innovation in their product line. Nothings inspiring, they arent doing anything other car lines havent done before, you can flat out see things that they've copied other brands on etc. perhaps this is why they are so reliable. They just copy everything.
