Another Cam post!
Haven't posted in a while and am starting to upgrade the T/A agian. So far I have full stainless steel exhaust Long tube headers, Y pipe, and Borla cat. K & N intake, smooth bellows, 92mm TB into 90mm Fast intake with 42lb Blue Demon injectors with Performance Products fuel rails.
I have yet to install my racetronix fuel pump and vortech supercharger which will be installed later!
I am needing some further information and help on cam and head selection. I am looking at the Patriot stage II heads don't know exactly which ones to go with. From what I read most go with the 243 castings. I was also looking between the MS3 and 228 if they would match those heads. It would be a plus if I could rebuild my rockers also but wouldn't mind upgrading if need be.
I already have a daily driver but at the same time I would want to keep the T/A streetable also and able to drive short trips to the beach and such.

^^^What he said, plus I wouldnt be running the LS6 heads on your motor if your going FI either because they are going to raise your compression. If anything, I would swap on a set of 6.0 heads or you can get a set of CNC ported 6.0's from patriot if youre really wanting ported heads.

I wasn't plannin on running anything more that around 8lb of boost so I could retain it as a street ready car. Would I have to do anything with the rockers to use the 6.0 heads?

Yep.....just remember with boost ALL your engine internals will be additionally stressed......I would listen to the others advice here and go more conservative with a cam selection. Why don't you call TSP or TR and ask their techs? I'm sure they have the knowledge to point you in the right direction......

i would deffinatly do a lot of research before you throw a cam and heads at your car. NA engines and FI are two totally different things. A good NA cam porbably isnt gonna work well with a FI engine. especially if it has alot of overlap. JUst decide where you want to be in the long run. NA or FI

I want to go forced induction later but I am looking to do the head and cam package soon. Like I said alot of people claim that I should have my rocker arms upgraded with the h. sharp kits. I have also seen frost say not to go with h. sharp's rocker arms.
I also would like to know which sponsor would be better over all on the subject ky speed or the ws6store if the are even still a sponsor?
So what is a decent direction that you guys would recommend going on heads and cam that would be able to drive on for about a year till i can install the Vortech that I have.Last edited by Ghawk996; 01-28-2010 at 06:48 PM.

ky and ws6 are just retailers talk to a cam manufacturer.
Get some worked 317's and a blower cam, if you want high compression i'll trade you my ported/milled 5.3's with some extra parts for your vortech- I will even pay for shipping.
I know someone using stock rockers in his 408 you will be fine.

If your dead set on running new rockers I would run YT's over HS unless you wanna drop the coin on some Jesel's.

[QUOTE= In order to optimize your FI setup you should just save and do it all in one shot...[/QUOTE]
I think that is what i will have to do.
In regards to the sponsors I thought ky speed installed cams and might have a little knowlegde on the subject!

thanks for the menton. I have seen cars with big cams and FI it usually dont work. the cams have more overlap and most of the boost goes out the exhaust.
I would recommend a boost cam if doing FI. now keep in mind that if you do the heads and cam that it will need to have studs to keep the heads down if you push it much. I have the truck heads on mine that have not been touched just springs installed they do great for a 346ci bulid on boost.
let me know if we can help as we have the P.P. heads and can get any cam you are looking at or a custom grid one also.
thanks,
Mark
