Good to hear you're alright. Once all the court/shyte clears, save up some money to have the frame checked/aligned and have the driver side door, front fender replaced. If your car has ASR, then use it on rainy days. I use my T/C on rainy days and it keeps me safe.

ok, but, your right foot is your traction control. doesn't anybody drive their cars like you're supposed to without relying on the car's electronics to drive it for you anymore? and if you're driving around on tires that need replaced you're putting everyone else on the road in danger.
yeah, that's right, another old dude.

1st, I'd like to state that, yes, I did similar stupid shit when I was your age and, yes, I paid for it.

BUT, not having traction control had absolutely nothing to do with it. Traction control should be your right foot. Shitty tires probably did, yet you didn't have the sense (or experience) to drive accordingly. I'm not blowing anything out of proportion nor am I asking you to end your life.

OTOH, I am thinking you should start paying attention to road conditions and the condition of the vehicle you are driving. Not paying attention to either of those is why the LEO cited you for reckless driving and not maintaining control. Next time you may not be so lucky.

And, while I will admit this all might have been happenstance I highly doubt it and so did the cop.

P.S.: While you might not like it nor will you admit it (at this point in your life) the cops are usually right in their assessment of what happened.

Actually, reread the first post. You are lucky the cop didn't cite you for hazardous tires/failure to maintain vehicle. Get that car fixed and take it easy from now on.

i originally questioned why a ticket would have to be issued. i think that was a hasty thought.

I had an accident with a Y2K WS6 I had previous, and the STATE police cited me for "faulty equipment". $70 (with a late fee) later... that was it. But I'm sure a reckless brings more money

I know this young gentleman didn't ask for a board review of his driving assessment. Old guys gotta have something to do though, right?

Because he said there was a witness that was denying his story. When someone that has nothing to do with the accident/ no connection to people involved says they saw something they're usually believed. They have no reason to lie unlike some kid that just went flying off the road.

yes he did by laying it all out there, and yes we do by pointing out the error in his ways.

that's why i said i was hasty. i thought, hey, accidents do happen but they don't automatically require the driver to be cited. however........

Technically I'm not so sure they can issue a reckless ticket because the cop didnt see it happen. However you admit you tried to pass someone and the car lost it. While it may have been your fault it also could have hydroplaned I had a "friend" in high school total a vw because a dip in the road that was wet and the car completely lost it and hit a wall. As for the witness if you pull your cell phone record and show it in court the witness should be discarded as it will prove she provided false information to the police. GET A LAWYER and fight it you should not have your license revoked for something that may have been an accident or due to the false statement by a witness. Sorry for the long rant but a lot of older people on the board seem to see the age of a kid and immediatley point the fault at them regardless of what may have actually happened. It needs to be realized that not all kids are subsequent jackasses and may actually appreciate and understand the power of their car.

dang man, didnt you just get your license? lol

And i seem to remember everyone lecturing you about being safe.

I'm not gonna do it, I was 20 when I got my camaro. I swerved to miss a coon once, overcorrected about 6 times, but kept it on the road. when I stopped I was covered top to bottom in mud, tires were smoking.

did something similar when I ended up totalling it.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

This is getting wayyy out of line, mistakes were made yes, and we can all speculate on reasons why it happened until we're blue in the face. So this is closed.
