Help me save my bird!!!
ok so short form: Girl in oncoming traffic makes a U turn, clips me, its her fault. My car's at the body shop and I'm worried about them totaling it. How can I save my car from being totaled? What are my options??

You may not have a choice. Sorry.
Looks like your rear axle is twisted. You might have more issues then you can see. If the axle is out like I see it your transmission may have damage too.

That tranny fluid looks like a pool of blood. Such a sad sight. Hope you can get it fixed.

Hate to say it but the more I look the more I think they are going to total it.
New door
Body damage repair
New paint
complete rear end
new wheels & tires
possible transmission?
Airbags?
and I would say the frame is not square but our cars are uni-bodies so the car body is not square.
Add all that up plus labor and the adjuster is going to write it off. Sadly our cars are not as valuable as we want them to be.
Ohh and make her pay...start shopping for a new one and if you can get it back and part out. Make some more $$ towards the next bird.

the car is a manual, and im gonna try to make the argument that i just put $2000 into the trans as far as input shaft, master/slave cyl, new clutch kit, and install. There's only one messed up wheel, and no the air bags didnt go off. I'm gonna try to talk the adjuster into letting the shop fix it. Idk if it would be worth more to let them total it (with me getting back my headers and exhaust), and giving me a check to put towards a new one, or to give me the car back, plus partial check. the hard thing is to get the car here, the vette would have to be outside (which is on suspended insurance since im not driving it right now) while the t/a was inside for deconstruction. Plus, its so hard to part cars out and ship things when im all the way out in az. I was tryin to unload the borla exhaust i have for months and no one bought it. I guess thats a good thing now.

this just happened to me some lady hit my son in my 99

also if she was at fault and got issued a summons, only file a claim thru her insurance company, but let your ins company know your intentions.also i just put a tranny in mine b4 the wreck and they bumped the settlement up a little.,.

I agree. Time to start looking for another bird. THAT SUX!!! Make her ins pay for your loss. Looking at the pics, she REALLY doesn't deserve any driving privileges IMO. She'll definately get hit with an illegal U-turn charge. How fast was she going? FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU that's a hard hit.

That just pissed me off to hear that. You put time and efforet in your car and they have the right to total it? Bull shit.
Last March my car was backed into 1 month beofre I was moving out of state, Luckly I brought it to a body shop who fought tooth and nail to get all new metal. The entire rear end had to be replaced and the frame had to be bent back. I did get my car back and its in great shape. I just remember the body shop guy in New Jersey saying the insurance company has the obligation to make you whole again. There is a reason you pay insurance....
If you drove a 2000 Trans AM then thats what they need to either repair or find a new one. Thats just out rioght bullshit what hapopened to you.
