If you read road and track they are still mid 13's now the 2011 with the 5.0 well that might be different.

A well kept trans am(or lightly modded) should win, but if both are stock, i think it might be a drivers race. Due to the trans am being 12 years older.

LOL I love the fact our cars still hold their own this many years later

The Trans am basically stock would be more than enough for the Mustang.

+1 Not only the Terminators, but the 2011 GT 5.0's will have 412 at the crank and similar weight from what I can tell. They will probably be the first GT models to put out more HP than our LS1's. It will probably be for the most part still be a driver's race stock for stock, but the new 5.0's will have the advantage

navy blue metallic- 2002 Camaro SS
For real....those damn Terminators were the first and only car (that I've raced, cause I know there are plenty of faster cars out there than me) to hand my ass a loss....felt good at least losing to a muscle car but not at the same time cause it was a Mustang hahaha....and I beat a Cobra before cause I'm definitely not stock, but it wasn't a Terminator Cobra like this guy's was....oh well
Just means it's time to mod it up some more =D

Birds still hold their own.
But if you're talking about a '98/99 A4 2.73 Trans Am, I don't think they would win against a manual 2010 Mustang.

This might be true, the 2010 stang with 315hp is teh same weight as a T/A but with better gearing. They do have a option for 3.55 gearing and combined with the t3650 makes for some good launching. Both cars are mid 13 second cars on average so i would think drivers race if both are bone stock.

2001 3.8 Black - sold- 2000 SS Black M6
I agree....the will whip an LS1's ass, but that comes down to the difference in and LS1, and a forged, blown, 32v small block, lol....not exactly fair.
Thats almost like saying what will win, a stock 95 viper, or a ZR1. same league, but at the same time, not
OH and to the OP, I think the TA will get it, from what ive seen, the 2010's have a decent chunk of power, but the suspension sucks, they cant put it down

Not really, you cant say its not fair that ford gave the car 32valves, forged internals and a blower, you should say damn you GM for not.
And your comparing a 95 viper to a 2009 zr1 and a 1998-2002 f-body to a 2003 cobra?
14 years of difference compared to 1-5 years of difference? 2002 trans am is almost the exact same car as a 1998.
And the last comment was a gt500 reference. They are the stang with good power but cant hook for shit.Last edited by Zinergy; 01-19-2010 at 09:16 AM.

Black- 2000 Pontiac Trans Am WS6
I would be interested in seeing a newer T/A (2000 or later) against a new 5.0. Can't wait to see them on the street, I love my LS's and won't be getting rid of either of them but my first new car was a 5.0 Mustang. I hope Ford sells every one they make.

Ok I think it just comes down to this. If you're worried about getting beat by a mustang then MOD YOUR DAMN LS1. These cars have been out since '98 so if you are looking to race then you've had more than enough time to mod the hell out of it if you're worried about loosing to anything really.
I have a D1SC procharger going in this spring. Whats your excuse?
