because they can easily put down 400+ horsepower with a few mild mods, if i wasnt into ls1s thats where i'd be,

03 and 04 Cobra's came with a Eaton supercharger, and like above said, can VERY easily be modified to put down some SERIOUS numbers. I'm not a huge mustang fan, but if I ever did own one, it would be one of these two years.

you're right it only takes a few bolt ons to make it a good race. that thing with the cobra is you can make alot more power pretty cheap, and you dont even really know what cobra you're pulling up on till you either beat him or he rapes you!
but once the full out modding begins the ls1 wins!

...until they get a pulley upgrade for under $100 and spank your "bolt ons LS1". Also, they come built with forged internals and a iron short block from the factory so you won't have to open the motor up. They can take well over 600whp reliably on the supercharger and more than 1000whp with a turbo setup in some cases. The LS1 is going to have to come out for an expensive build, on the other hand, to hold that kind of power. Sorry, but this is one Mustang that is superior to F-bodies.

I know the super charger ones can give you a run for your money. what about the non super chargerd ones. having 32 valves really make that much difference?

B2300 (Fluffy) Retired- Plain-Jane Dodge Truck
LS1 F-bodys have a fairly significant advantage over 96-01 N/A Cobras. A poor driver in the LS1 *might* get beat by a really good driver in that year Cobra, but everything else being equal, the advantage goes to the F-body.
03/04 Mach 1s (4V 4.6s that are similar to previous year Cobras, but with better heads and a more useful powerband, along with better stock gearing) are a much better race for an LS1 F-body, though stock to stock, or with pretty much the same bolt-ons, the LS1 still has a bit of an advantage.

Not much out there can take a well driven LS1, in the same class anyway. But Ford got it right with the 03-04 Cobra. It was a last ditch effort to actually beat the camaro cuz weve kicked its ass since they were introduced.
But yeah. a pulley and exhaust and theyll rape your ass
One thing to consider is price.....Termis are expensive as shit, and you can pick up a good LS1 for 10k

The header is used to draw you in to the thread. The OP explains the synopsis and reasoning in the first post, which he clearly states is about '03-04 Cobras. You are purposefully omitting information stated by the OP in order to have posters denounce and reject other models and versions of the Cobra.
The thread is about '03-04 Cobras, don't try to change the subject.
