Has your insurance company been involved at all? Honestly, if your insurance feels there is a case, they'll take it on and they will win in the end- if the police took pictures of the guy's car then there should be evidence of the emblem missing/broken off which could then be used to prove he did it. It's kind of like OJ Simpson leaving behind a glove... :-)

ya my insurance is involved now, since his was just doing what they r supposed to b take as long as possible. and both insurance's r some of the big boys.
And ya ive been looking just incase.....like every couple of hours XD
EDIT: If they do total it, should i try and buy the car back and part it out? and how much should i pay at most.Last edited by FutureWS6; 11-19-2009 at 06:11 AM. Reason: My firebird still looks better then any import even after being hit

Good question about how much to pay for the car. Your insurance company will probably tell you what you can purchase the car back for. I am not quite sure on how they determine this. Someone else in here might know. It could be a percentage value of what the car would have been worth if not totaled.
It will then be your job to determine if you can make a profit over that amount by parting the car out. You would probably be taking a risk though (assume that you will be stuck with a lot of car parts you will need to get rid of that won't sell). Or, if you for some miraculous reason sell nothing, you will be out the money you bought the car back for.
If it were me, I would probably just take the cash and move forward.

My experience has always been quick with the insurance. The only delay is going to be how long it takes an Adjuster to come look at it and how long he takes to submit his paperwork.
I have had Progressive write me a check in 24 hours when I hit a deer.
I had a lady hit me 2 years ago and it took here insurance companies adjuster 2 weeks to get it taken care of.
It really will depends, but it should not take that long.
Sorry about your car, I can't believe the damn honda was still moving after that!

Sorry about the loss dude, I purchased a sweet 4 camera setup for my house from ebay for like 400 bucks. It had the day/night vision cameras, dvr, cables, mounts and all. The companys ebay name was cctvhotdeals. Mine has been faithfully watching over all my toys for well over a year now. I dont regret buying them for a second.

For what its worth- if you have a v6, rebuilding the car may not be worth it (of course that depends on what you can buy it back for.) Also, don't buy it back for parts (unless its a low mileage LS1). Unless you have the extra space to store the car, it is a real pain to try to find a junk yard to take a car that has been stripped- if they can't make anything off of it, they won't buy it. Just take what you got and put a really good start to a LS1.
