any tips on replacing power steering pump??

That could be possible but I would cheek to make sure the resivervoir is not leaking. Especily if your re-used the old one. I responded to your other post befor i saw this one. It is very easy to miss a leak in the resiveroir because of the way they did the plastic weld from the factory. Hopefully some one else with more experince can answer your question about the stop leak. I have never used anyting like that. I alway belived that if it is designed to plug a leak then it is probibly going to plug something else that you do not want to get pluged. It's nasty shit and is always more trouble than it's worth so I never mess with it. Good Luck!

Maybe a dumb ? but where is the puddle forming? Is it under the rack, under the pump? Get her up on jack stands (be safe tho) and have someone fire it up while you're under it.. Have them move the wheel lock to lock and see if you can locate the leak. It's very possible the rack is damaged. Are any of the rack boots torn? Any hard lines kinked or ends twisted? Can easily happen when tightening a new line. Did you clear the line before installing it? Even a new line can have shit in it. Especially if someone took it out of it's box, dropped it in the dirt, then realized they had the wrong one and returned it. Unless the stop leak had solids in it I don't see how it could have effected it much. But I guess anything is possible. When I had my PS pump replaced under warranty they kept it over night and let it drain for quite a while to make sure there was no air trapped in the lines or rack..
Could even be a line is cross threaded too.

Hey almost forgot.. Did you pound the pulley on to the pump? Bad news if you did. PS pumps don't like being beat on..

alrite i figured it out..... the o rings to the reservoir showed up today haha its in now and hasnt leaked so far! fuckin rediculous!!!

What you see is what you get. Not much to it. Disconnect hoses, remove the power steering pump from bracket, install new one, connect hoses, and fill it.

However, if you get a rebuilt pump from the auto parts store and it has no pulley, you will need a PS pulley removal/installer kit to take the pulley off the old one and put it on the new one.

when I changed out my PS pump, I got one of those rebuilt ones that doesn't have a pulley. I tried as hard as I could to reuse my original pulley but instead my pulley puller broke it in half... the f*cked up part is that the ps pump I got didn't come with any new hardware or pulley or bracket.... to get the bracket off of the back of the old pump there is one bolt that can only come out with the pulley off. one way or another that pulley has to come off. I ended up breaking the bracket as well and having to go to the dealership to buy a new bracket and pulley because autozone and kragen suck balls and don't cary either part.

Maybe should have tried Advance instead. They usually carry most things for ps pumps that you'lll need. But the bracket prolly is a dealer only part tho. I usually steer clear of remanned parts these days. After numerous problems with them over the years. Most rebuild shops for things like starters, alt's, and so forth will reuse old parts in a remanned unit. Because they don't make any money (supposedly) on pieces containing all new stuff. I worked for a rebuild shop years ago and all new parts was a no no.. In my minds eye this = a junk rebuild.. So to that end a remanned part could easily be just an old unit with a new pulley or an old unit that needs a pulley.. Best to go new imho if you have the cash..

ya that is very true.. you never know what your going to get. I've been lucky so far and it hasn't failed YET.

one word of advice to anyone replacing their ps pump. make sure you put a new o ring on the threaded tube and tighten that thing down good and tight. I didn't torque very tight and I leaked a whole bunch of fluid onto my alternator
