How crazy you wanna get?
EGR/AIR
Spare Tire
AC
AC fan
ABS/ module
Drag Tires
Chromely K member
|||||||| A arms
Back seats
Thats just the start, things can start getting silly for any kind of DD and very expensive.

For a drag car it's easy. IMO, it's not even worth losing A/C for weight savings in a DD. What will the car be used for?

if you wanna spend some money, go with fiberglass body panels and hood. you can also rip out the back seats, spare tire, passenger seat, get a light wieght racing seat for the drivers side, etc.

um...the OEM ram air hood is fiberglass. When I switched the WS-9 hood to a OEM WS-6 hood, there was a huge weight difference. Took 2 of us to unmount it, on one to put the 6ers hood in place and balance.
One easy way to loose weight is remove the T-Tops when you are racing.lol

have fun parking with no power steering...

Wide tires + no power steering = Pain in the ass.
It sounds like you want to make it dual purpose. Full blown racer, and DD. Not easy to do. Getting rid of the stuff you mention might pick you up 2/10's in the quarter...max.

That will net you about 55 pounds saved with all of the AC,EGR, PS. Getting rid of the ABS module will clean it up and save another 10 pounds. If your trying to clean the engine bay up you can hide the wires that rest on the fenders. Theres a write up around here.

You could also get a rack and pinion set up that is not power assist. Far easier to turn than one that's just disconnected..

haha man i had my powersteering pump go out on me while i was skipping school lunch doing a donut
...it sucked parking but once it got rolling it was fine.....but it should be easier driving a manual rack then driving with a ps wrack with no power pluz it will jus be another reason ppl cant drive my car

Here's what it weighs stock: http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=123963
Other things that can be ditched (if emissions are not an issue): Secondary air system and cats. They also have lightweight batteries available now, or you can relocate yours to the "trunk". Also, if running into things is not a concern, they make a slick tubular bumper cover support for Camaros that lets you ditch all the factory crap -- not sure about one for the T/A though. The latest GMHTP has a Camaro build that shows it.

Wire Mod:http://www.flickr.com/photos/lswon/s...740314/detail/
If you have it, TCS Mod:http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/appear...tion-pics.html
I have done both of these. It looks A TON better. There's also a coil pack relocation kit for sale to move the coil packs from on the valve covers to under the windshield. Would greatly help spark plug/header/valve cover removals, although it'd only save maybe 10 minutes, they're easy to remove. If your lookin to reduce weight and you have a TCS, you may wanna just delete it. Also, don't forget airbags, power hatch motor, & power antenna

how much are you willing to spend... replacing the heavy as shit carpet with a light weight one is a good way to down your weight... moving the battery to the trunk... drain the washer fluid out... remove the back and passenger seats... remove the speakers and stereo... remove the amp and power antena... etc etc etc...

Like everyone has said. Those cars that weigh so little have everything removed that doesnt help them go fast.
So if you want to have your car be usable as any form of DD you wont get down to that weight.
You can do a lot of little things to help like everyone has already said though.

you can actually basically remove your whole front bumper support etc..and just have a few bars welded together ..that saves tons...a lot of weight can be saved from taking the carpet and the incredibally heavy sound deafening foam etc....as said before ..depends how serious you want to get..as a DD with some track time..i wouldn't remove a lot..maybe ditch the rear seats when at the track ..stuff like that.
