Check around water pump and thermostat housing for starters. Work your way down from there.

questions...... do the fans come on? Verify that. We now know that it has a good thermo in it. Is the radiator obstructed? I've found plastic bags blocking all the airflow over the radiator. Is there a blown headgasket? As far as the temp gauge, its an innacurate pos but if the car is boiling over it should indicate that the car is running that hot but the needle being in the red. Probably needs a new coolant temp sender is my guess. The sender doesnt work, not sending the signal to the relay for the cooling fans to come on. Therefore the car always thinks the engine is running cool, when its not. The car gets hot but those fans are never switching on.
list of things to check
1. cooling fan relay/relays ie high and low speed
2. cracks in the intake manifold for shits and giggles. its plastic
3. cooling sendin unit for temp gauge
4. proper airflow across the rad
5. bad fans themselvesLast edited by 310stanger; 11-09-2009 at 09:50 AM.

They probably didn't replace the Thermostat, that could easy cause that, that $2 part is often overlooked

I don't know a whole lot about Mustangs but to me, it sounds like an air pocket is either trapped somewhere, or the water pump is taking a shit on you, or both..Have you ever had the cooling system flushed out? Can you verify that the new fan is actually comming on?

yes the fan is coming on i watched it. no its never been flushed . she just called and said steam is coming out of two hose one near the back of the motor towards the firewall and one towards the raditor. the fluid is on top of the motor I talked to a mech her at work he thinks head gasket from a warped head from being so hot god I hope not
