ws6 or harley
hey guys i was wondering what you would rather have? i have a 03 harley its on the vehicles for trade if you wanna see what it looks like. i ride mostly with my dad and his friends (i'm 16 turning 17 in nov there all 40) what would you rather do trade the bike for a ws6 and than buy a bike down the road (that's what dad did 7 years ago) or keep the bike and wait 2 years for the car? also i paid for the bike so it's all my choice not dad's we won't buy it for me just borrow the money than pay him back(no interest)

If you don't have a vehicle already get the WS.6.

As much as I hate to say it, at 16 years old, the WS6 will be safer.

I would get the WS6. Then look for an old XL883 and do the 1200 conversion.

If you're sticking with the Harley please make it fast before loud. I'm sick of all the 40 horsepower six hundred pound low compression bikes around here farting around with straight pipes like they're the shit. Like the ricer of the bike world

If you live up where it's cold and have a problem with a diesel, I probably would not consider a WS6. Now on the other hand, WS6 and the first $500 beater, yes.

Ok, according to Harley a 1200 sportster has 9.7:1 compression and the big bikes are 9.2:1. For a bike that is very low compression. Harley doesn't give a shit because they crank out the same stuff every year (hey look guys, new stickers!) and make a killing off of it. My crf250 runs 12.9:1 on pump with no computers. 14:1 is the best piston i can use with a stock cam on pump. Modern street bikes are even higher. It's all show.

You're also talkin' bikes that are'nt cruisers too and the bike you're talking about weighs a shit ton less. Apples and oranges.. Todays Harleys have to run on shit gas...
Not to mention a 250cc does'nt have near the stroke of a Harley motor. 9:7-9:2-1 IS considered high in a Harley, with some older bikes seeing over 10:1.. 250cc = no torque. Harley 1340 = all torque...Forget about hp torque is the name of the game.

Regardless, it shouldn't take 1200cc to make 38 rwhp. Low compression and
peanut port heads. My bike would stomp a sportster until I ran out of gear. It has plenty of grunt. I'm just saying that they should update them and to the op please don't straight pipe it if it's an internally stock 40 horse machine. That's just annoying. I want a sportster or buell. I just couldn't leave it stock for heads and cam. They sound wicked over 6000 rpm.
