Chirping noise: 3 different shops cant diagnose

Can anyone help me possibly diagnose this annoying chirping cricket noise

-Usually only hear it once car is fully warmed up

-Gets much louder when accelerating, especially 55mph +

-When I come to stop after hearing the noise, and put the car in PARK, the noise disappears or gets very quiet. I put it back in Drive, noise comes right back

Could this be transmission related ?

it could be tranny related. Notice any vibrations in the car or anything like that? I would narrow down where the sound is coming from before trying to diagnose it. Have someone get in it and put the car in drive and then crawl around and see if you can find out exactly where the noise is coming from. Chirps are almost always belt/pulley related so I would start there first.

i have the same exact issue with mine. i replaced my drive belt pulley. i guess tensioners next. is it an auto or manual? could be a throw-out bearing ... i've been told tho that if it's the throw out to deal with it until the clutch goes out because it's a huge pain in the butt

I had a similar chirping sound. I would change the main drive and a/c belts and it would go away for a while then come back about once a year. this last time I replaced the idler/tensioner pulleys instead of getting new belts cuz the belts had less than 5k miles on them so I figured they cant be stretched already. so far the chirping is completely gone and I will say that the ac tensioner was worn the most. the tensioners are pricey though. about 70 for the main drive belt and I wanna say 50 for the a/c. so ya might wanna try spraying them 1 by1 to try and pinpoint it. just be careful not to let it drip on the belt. I replaced mine last spring so we'll see I guess. also I do remember someone posting on here about how to put new bearings in the pulleys to save ya a lil money if that turns out to be your problem.

The problem is the noise is not constant so very hard to pinpoint

I may just start with a new belt and go from there

I ended up using GM belts to shut mine up, every other belt started chirpin in a day or two. Mechanic I konw told me some of these cars will only be quiet with GM belts on them. I know expensive, but I couldn't stand the chirpin, and had already replaced everything else. Been silent for 3 years now

Generally the symptoms you describe are torque converter/flexpate related. Can you get it up in th air and try to pinpoint where it's coming from?

Wouldnt the noise be constant if it was the torque converter or flexplate ?

I would need to have a shop get it up in the air there is no way I can do it

No, they generally make more noise under load.

Installed four different brands of belts, goodyear gatorback stopped the chirping.

With my car, the noise apparently was belt-related and was most noticeable in the warm-up period.

If there are cracks in the flexplate, the metal rubbing together makes a chirping noise.
The A/C compressor ahs a clutch, bearings etc. but I was basing the thoughts on the fact that you said it gets quiet in Park and makes the noise at speed - especially accelerating. Normal belt or pulley noises don't do that - they are usyually most prominent at idle and rarely happen when driving at speed.

I don't know, maybe. The last cracked flexplate I heard made more if a rattle noise. It was a co-workers 04ish 1500HD pickup.

FYI, the noise only started after the dealer re-installed the engine after pulling it to replace leaking oil seals and water pump. All the engine oil seals were replaced, as well as the water pump.

Every shop tells me they either cant hear it, or they hear it and it goes away

This is such a pain because it near impossible to diagnose

Only happens after car is warmed up and at speeds of 55- 65 mph

Sometimes the noise will continue after a run on the highway, when I come to a stop is when I put the car in Park or Neutral, the noise will disappear 90% of time

What exactly engages/disengages when the transmission is shifted from Drive to Park/Neutral ?

i say the torque converter. is it a chirp or more of a whine? record it and post it up. could also be a torington brearing in the trans about to let go. i know peeps have different ways to explain noises thats why i say record it
