That's what I mean. They will drive however they want to. There is no law agaisnt young drivers only allowed to drive a car up to a certain amount of hp.
Till then a teenage boy will be wreckless if he wants to. It's just life. Some kids get awesome cars. Some don't.
The point is, age doesn't matter for whatever car they drive.
It only matters when people get envious. Hell I know people with amazing first cars. Did they wreck them? Maybe. But that coulda happens in any car at any age.
I saw a man be 2 inches of being ran over today by a car going 50mph with a cop stopping traffic to let the byciclist turn in an intersection.
Age doesn't matter. People do stupid things at all ages.

To the OP, I think your Camaro is appropriate for your age if you bought the car with your own hard earned money. A kid who works for their car can buy whatever they, kids that Daddy buys them a 2002 WS6 is a different story.
I think teens in general should work to buy their first car, not given one. People will treat something they worked hard for a lot better (and sensible) than something they were given.

I agree. I had 3 jobs in high school to pay of a pos car. Build my credit up so I didn't have to co sign the SS. I bought my first camaro vert when i was 19. Then I paid it off and got the SS all on my own with a 750 credit score at the age of 21 less than 7% interest.
I know some kids where daddy does give them everything. But they appreciate. But I also know kids where it's never enough; I don't think they deserve some of their privledges. But that's out of our hands.

I am close to the same situation as you but ive learned already that if you know you dont fit in to the stupid teenager "quota" then just know yourself that its not you.people are always going to see you behind the wheel of a car that they didnt have at that age ,and they will ALWAYS say that you cant drive it safely. I bought my car at 17 payed 14,000 cash drove it home over 70 miles at night. ive since put 13,000 miles on it with not so much as a scratch or dent. yet every time i meet an adult who doesnt know me they look at me like an irrisponsible "teen". and ya know from the average of our generation they should. we suffer from the people like that guy with the mustang. who are so unsure of themselves they have to show off and be someone they aren't.and all the while not know a damn thing about there vehicle or what it can handle. so a bit of advice learn to take peoples comments with a grain of salt because until you turn 25 you have to deal with it and just DRIVE.

Well, I believe I drive pretty chill SOMETIMES. I'm 17. Hopefully getting a LS1 F-Bod next summer.
But, there I sometimes get the urge to drive like a fucking maniac, I'll drift around a corner on wet pavement, or i'll go full throttle threw a humungus puddle. Or I'll go 55 mph off of a hill on a backroad and have all tires off the ground for a second. I could go on and on, I've done a lot of crazy shit with this truck.
I guess kids like me contribute to the reason why our insurance is so high.

Yeah, immaturity does strike from time to time, unless you're a complete goober and you think a 4th gen will ever be worth something in the near future. I'm responsible, but I do open it up on clear roads, usually around midnight after going to hang out with some friends or a movie. No one is on the roads. It helps that I have maybe 210 horsepower
I've driven my dad's 385 rwhp m6 Formula too, it'll only go as fast as your right foot tells it too.

Teens with mustangs, are usually trouble they just looks for the most popular, intimidating car . Also my neighbor, a total gear head is always staring at me when I pull out of my garage, until of course I needed some help, and asked him to help. Now I think that he knows that I know about cars, so its not as bad anymore.

Take care of your car and it will take care of you.
Always good to be a little afraid of your car. That way you think twice (or three times) before you attempt something stupid.

Phantom Black Metallic- 2004 GTO M6
I agree with this. I will get on the gas a little on the highways but not too much. I treat a V8 car like it is a monster. Give it respect and it will respect you. Mistreat it and it will bite. I am glad I waited til 32 to get my GTO. I think if I had a high-horsepower car as a first car, I would be dead. Now I just play it safe. And with the goat being the first car I am financing, fully insuring, and paying for by myself, I don't want to be one of the folks who has to sell their baby to pay fines and surcharges.
