Painting stock 10 spoke ss wheels
I have the stock 10 spoke grey ss wheels and have seen some pictures of them in black. I really want to get them powdercoated, but do not have the money. Now I was wondering if I prepped the wheels right if I could use some good paint and spray them. I am open to all suggestions. I'm just trying to get some feedback if this would turn out good

Save up for the powder coating. The problem with painting them yourself is that they will chip and you will need to re-paint them every so often. Powder coating bonds the paint to the metal and will last almost forever. Does not chip, flake or fade. Well worth the money. You can get all 4 wheels painted for around $350.

Pewter- 2001 Z28
Shit me and my dad painted mine black in his backyard cost me $30. that was about a year ago and they have held up fine. They have clear on em and no one can even tell we painted em. Its all in the prep, anyways if you plan on keeping em forever maybe powder coat. But I would not paint them all black I would leave a ring on the outside of original color about a half inch or so thats what I did. I have seen them all black and just think it looks like shit, to each his own. Oh or maybe all black with a red stripe around the outside, just a thought.

Over here to have them sandblasted and powdercoated is 115 a wheel. I'm planning on sandblasting them myself and then getting them powdercoated. I cant afford it myself, but i'm saving up because i want them coated. Like said above its a process where electrons and protons bond the paint to the metal. Its ends up lasting longer and resisting better to scratches. Well worth it IMO.
Also if you get it done send me some pics or post them up. I got a white one also and that was my plan was to powdercoat them all black. I got 10 Spokes also.

If you 're using the original GREY wheels you cannot sand blast them. It creates little micro divots in the surface and can lead to loss of structural integrity and cracking. You need to hand prep the wheels before [owderc coating. If you were powder coating an old chrome wheel, then thats a different story as the wheels are made from a different material. My guy preps as part of the price.

A friend of mine taped off areas and painted his to look like the anniversary wheels. They came out looking real sharp. It can be done, just prep them correctly and take your time.

If its not too much trouble do you think you could PM or email me what you did to make those turn out like that, looks like you did a real nice job on those. Any help would be great, planning on doing this or something similar to this beginning of next year.
Thanks
