1997 Grand Cherokee- 1999 Firebird.
Buying a 42" LCD TV for the bedroom. QUESTION!
Are their any brands I should stay away from, and are there any brands I should consider first? I've always heard that Samsung makes a good HDTV. I guess I'm choosing between LG, Panasonic, Magnavox, Phillips, Hitachi, RCA, JVC, and Toshiba. Any help would be great!! Thanks.

+1. I have the Samsung LN40A550 40" 1080P LCD in my bedroom and I love it. Samsung is the best when it comes to LCD in my opinion and from what I have read. I did a lot of research before I bought my LCD.
Amazon usually has some pretty great deals sometimes and you can even get free shipping at times. That's where I ordered mine from at the end of 2008.

I have a Mits 62" in the living room and a Sony in the bedroom. Samsungs are a good brand too.
My old Mits 55" is still running strong since 2000

samsung all the way. i got a 61" 1080p dlp from them for the living room(football, games, movies, sat tv, and football
), and a 40" 720p lcd flat panel for the bedroom. no games in the bedroom so i didnt need the 1080p. great tv's. the whites are white and the blacks are black. the dlp has the led bulb which basically makes the tv incincible aside from the actual control panel. nothing else i can really ask for in tv's.

My bro has an RCA, huge screen is like 5ft across! I'll have him send me a pic and post it.
Nice but it had to be sent back once. Had cooling issues, the fan is prone to pack up and choke off with dust. Then they go into thermal shut down. Sucked. But he got it fixed under warrenty and is golden now. But this all happened in less than a year after the purchase, so not good. Other than that one issue it's an awesome set.
Sorry for the Blackberry pic my bro is'nt always the sharpest knife in the drawer..lolLast edited by Smittro; 09-16-2009 at 10:05 PM.

Thanks everyone. We have a 65" Mitsi in the livingroom, and it's ok, but I've always heard great things about Samsung! Glad to see everyone confirms it. Samsung it shall be!

Since this is in the bedroom, I would go for a plasma, (Fairly dark room). Pioneer or Panasonic.
Check out this site if you truly need advice... I have not been on much lately, but will peak a head in to give advice if needed.

i have a sharp aquas and love it. but i have read alot of reports where the visio from walmart and other stores is the best bang for the buck and actually beats some mits, sharps and toshibas.
i saw walmart had a 42 with sound bar and mount for like 797 1080p too.

I was told the Vizio's use the same components as Samsung. Vizio's are generally cheaper. You might want to take a look at those before you make a decision...IMO

Navy Blue Metallic- 98 T/A, 00 FBVert, 78T/A
I've got 3:
Westinghouse 42" (Living Room) - I like this one alot
Samsung 32" (Son's room) - In the 32" class I have to say this one has the best picture.
Vizio's 32" (My bedroom) - It's ok, cheap, I mean decent pricing, but compare to the Samsung, I wish I had spent an extra $100 and got another Samsung

when it comes to plasmas... Panasonics makes the best, they supply plasmas to pioneer.. Pioneer elite series is all panasonic..
samsung makes good led and lcd screens.
vizio=best tv for the costs.
but why a tv in the bedroom?
its proven that tv's in the bedroom reduce sexual activity between couples, regardless if you watch porn together
