Sub Frame Connectors
I have recantly been looking at sub frame connectors for my 99 trans am ws6. I just hace a couple questions, I have been looking mostly at BMR and UMI sfc's and was wondering anyones experiences with these brands? My other question is would the boxed or tubuler be the way to go? i thought the three point sfc's seemed a little overkill but and input would be helpful.

UMI tubular 3 point bolt on. perfect fit, no issues, if youre going to see much track time you might want to do weld on, or weld the bolt on. theres one spot toward the rear that might be an issue if your car is too low, but i dont know for sure, you can see it from a side view. hope that helps a little.

I installed the UMI 2 point bolt in SFC's on our car a week and a half ago. The entire install took all of 30 minutes and everything fit perfectly. The only difficulty was getting a torque wrench on the back bolts as there isn't quite enough space.
I have driven the car approximately 100 miles since and it seems to have a tighter feel on uneven pavement. I have no hesitation in recommending the UMI kit -- very well engineered and nice build quality. Like you, I felt that the 3 point kit was overkill for our car.

I have the BMR SFCs, boxed style welded in. They are tucked away nicely and are not noticeable from the side of the vehicle.
From what I have seen in here, most people tend to go with the weld-in style. Bolts tend to become loose over time. Which is probably why dk mentioned going weld-in if you plan on taking it to the track often.
I think either brand you go with you'll be fine. Both BMR and UMI are top notch.

3 bolt if you want more for handling such as road racing or autoX.
2 bolt would work just fine.
I personally went with tubular bolt on 2 point by UMI.
Either brand is great, 2 bolt would be enough, get the weld on if you dont ever want to take them off.
Not really sure how much of a difference there is between tubular or boxed but I think the tubular might be a little lighter.

UMI is my brand of choice for suspension.
Can't go wrong with BMR, UMI, or Spohn though.
I like the 3 point SFC's if you plan on using a tunnel braced torque arm. Helps that center section be rigid.

blacker than wesleysnipes- 98' trans am
got umi 3 point tubular weld ins...the craftsmanship is godly ..a great product..helped tighten up my car..and they show just a little..but it looks awesome (black car with all red suspension/chassis improvements) just to let you know..i am going exclusively with umi and strano for my suspension/chassis needs..personally i say to stay away with bmr...they tried to push sam strano around..then when and nearly identically copied his springs ..i herd they are bullies..so i will not buy bmr on a moral standpoint

yea clearance is not really a issue with sfc ...but you loose more clearence with 3 point over 2 points...but trust me..1. does your car good 2. looks awsome 3.clearance is not really a concern

i have the umi 3 points and the driver side went in perfect and then i had trouble with the passenger side at first i tried a punch but it just messed up the plate and had to get another one and all i had to do was grind the hole a little to get it to line up but other than that fitment issue for me probably because im unlucky, they make a difference you can feel

I've got Spohn 2 point tubular weld-in SFC's, no ground clearance lost at all, you can't even see them unless really looking for them.
