I used some products made locally by a company called Chemicals Unlimited
Thir sales rep has given me a bunch of free samples of products to use
Basically, I first scrubbed the dirt off with an all-purpose cleaner. (I had some before pics, now I can't find them) then I use a metal polish on the aluminum and dressed the rubber. I have some good water-based, quick-drying trim dressing product from CU that I let sit for a minute and then wipe dry. I made sure I didn't leave the pedal too slick, so I used a QD to make sure the customer wasn't going to have troubles slipping her feet off the pedals
You want to clean them up and looking good, but the most important thing is not to use any silicone base products

By machine, I always recommend Menzerna as the polish of choice
How do you rate the condition of your paint?
Silver and pewter colors hide imperfections real well, unless you have some deep scratches I would say get it buffed.
By hand assuming your paint is in fair to good condition, I would recommend Duragloss 501. This will clean you paint very nicely and bring its original luster back. This is like an all-in-one product that will clean shine and protect your paint. Highly recommend it
You can use the Duragloss 105 to top it with, your choice of wax, or just leave it as is...
You could also check your local True Value Hardware and look for a product called Rejex
Both Duragloss 501 and Duragloss 105 are carried by CarQuest. You can get both for about 20 bucks

I've tried them sporadically. I've used the 3M 39002. It's decent, but they tend to dust a lot, though quite effective compund...
Another one that I use once in a while it's the Swirl Remover 6064 and my favorite one is the Ultra-Fine SE
One thing you should know about 3M compounds, they're pretty much for professional use. I'm talking the heavy compounds and the extra cut ones. What this means is that they may not be orbital buffer friendly. They work great with rotary buffers, but you may struggle with an orbital
The 3M 39002 and the 3M 6064 however, can do well with an orbital...
