How Rare Are Hardtop WS6's?
I really want a 98-02 hardtop WS6 (preferably M6). How rare are they? This isn't a WTB post, just wondering how hard I'm going to have to search for the car. Anybody have production numbers that break down T-top vs. hardtop?

This came up a while back, and I think the general agreement was that you won't find one. I could be wrong though

i believe the only hardtop ws6 were firebird formulas. you wont find them in a t/a.

Pewter Metallic- 2001 Trans Am WS.6
I believe t-tops were standard on trans am's from 98-02. I have never seen a 98+ TA hardtop, only t-tops and droptops.

No Formula Hard Tops in 2002 all were T-top cars, although you could get a 2001 Formula in a Hard top/T-top...

Artic White- 1998 Trans Am
So your only real option if you really want one but don't mind clones is to get a WS6 formula or regular formula nad start swapping parts to create your own 1/0 WS6 hardtop. Just don't try to pass it off as a rare factory option.

Black- 1998 Trans Am WS6 'Vert
I believe there was one '98 WS6 T/A hardtop built, can't remember if it was a pre-production mule or promo car or "special ordered" by some dealer who knew someone on the inside. But I do remember seeing a picture of it somewhere. While that combo wasn't available to the average Joe (all T/As came standard w/ t-tops in '98+), sometimes those oddballs do slip out the door (same w/ the 2 '98 WS6 Formula 'verts that were built).

OK I'm sorry to ask a totally dumb question but what is the difference between a t/a and a formula?

Pewter Metallic- 2001 Trans Am WS.6
A formula is the base firebird body with the v8. It was the middle model. Trans Am was the top of the line model, generally loaded, much more standard things like leather, power acc, t-tops, plus the v8. The formula could be had with less options, and would usually weigh less than a trans am.

Yeah the base formula doesn't have the heavy ass fiberglass ram air hood or the extra 40 pounds in spoiler or however much it is either. Nor does it have the heavier suspension setup like the WS6 T/A

Black/Black- 2000 Trans Am WS6 A4
personally, I love the way t-tops look. they are the only 'removable' top of any kind that I will tolerate...
convertibles look like crap with the top up...
t-tops look good, on or off...
just means we need to get some more braces and whatnot for our cars...

OK, so I hear from everyone that hardtop WS6's don't exist and then I see that one is for sale right now on this board. Is it a conversion or just extremely rare?
