ID Theft
So, I put my wallet on the convertible boot of my '68 LeMans while putting the seat belt on my 4 year old son and forgot about it.
It fell off, I went back about 10 minutes later and found someone with some of my stuff, but he told me someone else 2 minutes before I got there said "ya, that's my wallet." and took off with it. It looks like that guy has my license and SSN. I do have the 3 credit cards that were in the wallet along with my debit card.
I know, I'm stupid to have the SS card in my wallet, but it has only been there for the past 2 months because I had to find a job after 20 years with Goodyear (fuck them, BTW, that's another story. I'm a vicitm of the weak economy). I've already put a 90 day fraud alert with the credit reporting companies and filed a police report, any other ideas?

Just obvious stuff like cancel all cards. Go into your bank and let them know what's going on...the guy could actually walk in trying to withdraw money using your ID. Also get your free annual credit report in a few weeks looking for new open accounts...better safe than sorry in case that fraud alert doesn't work.

^^^Thanks, I'll talk to the bank today. Didn't think of that. Pretty sure all he may have is my drivers license and SS card.

Having been through Identity theft I would recommend that you one of the Major Reporting Companies and Have your Credit Froze.
In Indiana when you request your credit be frozen it is done within 24hrs(thats the Law).
With your credit Froze no one can apply for credit in your name without a Red Flag coming up. You can unfreeze your credit when ready to apply for a loan or whatever.
Best of Luck.

dropped my ATM acouple months ago, report right away with the last transaction if you know when it was on any cards. My bank shut down the card right away. Person used it for 3 days but bank replaced all the missing funds. ...... fuckin people , if that guy was telling the truth why didn't he check the ID in the wallet to see if it was him....... I trust no one now.....

Ok, so today I went to the bank and now have password protected accounts. Also I found out what ID requirements are for a replacement license, and the FTC hotline said to put a fraud alert with the credit reporting companies since the SS card is missing. I need to call the SS office to get my replacement card still. I'm considering a credit freeze, I might do it for at least 6 months, now that I'm thinking about it I think I'll see if I can do it online right now.
