I was just curious about the optispark problem because every lt1 car I looked at said it just replaced the optispark and didn't give any reason then I heard they had problems with that. so considering the people who just replaced it obviously had problems with it will have problems again because they didn't fix the water pump leak.

I was surprised how many lt1 cars there were that already had the ls1 swap for sale.

pk222, no doubt they are major PITA. Ive had 3 LT1's and all have had Opti issues, not only does the waterpump crap on it but if you hit a puddle or just drive in the rain too much it will start to show its flaws very quickly. Some havent had any issues with it but plenty have. I think even though the LS1 is a hard car to work on the LT1 is more difficult without a doubt, parts being cheaper that all depends what parts but for the most part the LS1 parts are fairly cheap as well.

LS1 vs LT1 has been beaten to death...
And FWIW, swapping an LSx into an LT1 car is fucking stupid. For the time and effort you put into it, either A, go get an LS1 car, or B, build an LT1 motor that is easily more than capable of wiping the floor with a bolt on or slightly modified LS1 motor.

ok, well when it's time if I'm still looking into a trans am or camaro then I'll most likely go for the 98-02 just because it doesn't have the optispark plus I like the body a little more.
It also seems like the ls1s are making really good power with few mods. intake and exhaust plus tune to 350 whp is what it seems like and to me that seems really good for that few of mods. Its just the initial cost of the car
