PCV Catch can emptied pics... is this ok?

Check out these pics.... I emptied my catch can for the first time, and expected the fluid to be thicker. It actually looks and smells like 90% gas. There's only a little oil in it. Is this normal or do I have a problem?

Take a look. I had a nice coat of oily residue on the back side of my TB and inside the intake, hence I got the can. I haven't rechecked that yet.

It was a couple months. I've been working away from the house each week, so I only drive it every other weekend.

Is it thin like gas??? Or does it have the consistency of oil??

It has the appearance of fresh oil with no miles on it.

I drained my wifes car for the first time, and it only filled about half the lid from an aresol can. It was pure oil though.

It's pretty thin. Not as thin as straight gas though. But I'm kinda worried. Car runs great though.

It's hard to tell what it is but more often than not it's water - normal.

try to light it on fire.... eng oil is a bitch to get started where gas in not

I always like a good explosion... The mixture won't light on fire. I tried. It just smells like a mix of gas and oil. I will have to empty it again sooner, after maybe a couple rides and see what I get.

its moisture that your basically seeing ....the fumes get trapped and when they cool..they will drop to the bottom of the can..and dilutes the oil ...depending on how good your pcv system is/crankcase pressure..will make what you see different..i wouldnt worry.

You also get moisture in the crank case if you run gas with high alcohol/ethanol content. That crap is corrosive and loves to grab moisture out of the air too.

A few years back we switched our race car to alcohol for a short period,,,main that stuff is high maintainance. More frequent oil changes, moisture in everything, etc... It was routine after a day of racing to install a gas carb, filled the bowls with high octane gas, and just run the engine for a minute on pure gas before it was parked for long periods,,,just to get all that alcohol out of the cylinders. It was getting tiresome.

I'd just keep checking it...maybe every other week or so....just drain it...see how the fluid comes out...it's probably just a mix of oil, gas, and condesation from sitting....
