racetronics fuel pump without wireing harness
anyone with a 99-02 f-body using the racetronics fuel pump without there wireing harness as a direct pump replacement?
They say plug and play are they referring to just the pump?

Buy the harness! You need the thicker gauge wiring. My stock wiring was fried from the stock pump.

yes, you can do it without the kit but I would just suck it up and buy the kit. You could make that hotwire kit yourself too but it's nice having it all ready to go. One of the big positives to doing the hotwire kit is it takes voltage straight off the alt. so you don't have voltage drops that effect your pump and pressure.

I've read a little about pumps so I'm not an expert yet. just doing research then deside which pump to get.
I'm finding the walbro pump that requires cutting the bucket is not a good idea for following reasons must allways half 1/4 tank of fuel to prevent.
1.pump needs a full bucket to keep cool and last.
?2.hard cornering will empty the bucket an starve pump?
? or even taking off hard will empty bucket?
any other drawbacks from the Walbro?
any thoughts on this?
I have 105K miles on the car (and still stock 26LBers) now and want a spare pump, good to know that if I get the Race tronics I can just swap pumps then do the hotwire
later.
Oh and thanks again GM for having individual parts available they will force me to buy a new sending unit ect. just to get a pump $600.
Thanks for pump advice

I recently did the racetronix kit on my 02 camaro, and i must say the install is very easy if you cut the access panel in the trunk, i ran the car 2 days with out the harness and no issues, but yea i wouldnt recomend it, the harness is in now and was a breeze to install, very nice setup and easy install!

If you need the full performance of the pump then buy the kit. The more voltage the pump sees the more fuel it will flow. With the stock wiring there is some voltage drop to the pump. So it will function at about 90% of full capacity. A racetronix pump on the factory harness will still flow more then a factory pump.

Dude, let my fuck up help you decide. Almost every site I looked for a fuel pump said the Walbro was a direct replacement. It might as well been a pump out of a Volkswagen. What you have to do to your $600 fuel pump module to make the Walbro work is so fuckin stupid that I can't believe that I even did it, and had nothing but problems. (probably due to install error) Needless to say, 2 weeks later I bought a used pump assembly and installed the Race Tronics, a TRUE direct replacement and very high quality. I would also recommend the harness, all you have to do is plug it in.
