Volant vs. SLP lid
I currently have the slp lid on my 2000 trans am. will there be much of a difference besides "looks" if I go with a Volant cold air kit, compared to the SLP lid?
2000 Arctic White trans am, ws6 hood, ws6 air box, slp lid, slp smooth bellows, slp loudmouth exhaust, shift kit, rebuilt trans, LS6 intake, 3.73 gears, Shaner S3 p/p throttle body, and a tune . SFC. C6 ZO6 rims 18" in back 17" in front. Drilled and slotted rotors.

Myself, I went with Volant before i had bought a lid, but thats the route i chose, and by the numbers between the two, theoretically Volant should easily show almost 10hp more over a stock airbox and lid setup. As for fitment, kinda a toss up i guess, i have not had one problem with mine, it installed easily and sealed well to the underside of my hood but others seem to have hell...

+1 volant fit well with me as well. im kinda an slp hater without meanin to be, the companies made me be biased towards their products without realizin it, but i guess it's be a toss up in all fairness. its whichever you feel more comfortable with. personally, i think volants worth the dough, performs well and looks beast as hell.

he said I gained 5 rwhp on the dyno with the volant
so id say this is not gains with an SLP...2002 z28 a4 93,000miles TB Bypass,SLP lid,Berger panel,Whistler mod.soon to come....ss LT's,ORY,cut-out,performabuilt tranny w/3400 stall,and some 3.73's with the TSP228R cam.
It's just word association for me...someone says "running from the cops" and the first thing that comes to me is CAMARO

common logic will tell you a volant will be better than bout any lid, the question you gotta ask is how far are you going with your mods to make it worth the extra money...

If your gained 5 hp from you Volant, it was probably just the dino. Unless it was back to back runs, meaning you took the lid off, swapped for a Volant, and ran agian... a different dino on different day can and will read different. Not saying I swear by the SLP, just saying a dino is nothing more then a tuning tool.

440 RWHP / 410 TQ- 2000 SLP CAMARO SS
Volant is the way to go....no fitment issues here and you can hear the the suction from the hood scoop with the hood closed. Had the Lid, shitty fitment and a pain to change the filter!
2000 SLP Camaro SS M6 * 515 HP TrickFlow Package * FAST 92 MM Intake * Nick Williams 92 MM TB * Volant CAI * Granatelli MAF * Full Custom True Dual Exhaust with X-Pipe * Tuned by Breathless Performance
