Red- 2002 SS Camaro
Cam Question
Hay guys I’ve been debating on what camshaft I should get I have a 02 SS Camaro with LT headers, MAF sensor, slp lid. I have been looking at the MS3 and Texas Speed's 233/239. I would like to get about 400 to the wheels, but this is also my daily driver so I do not want anything to radical. I have heard that MS3 is more of a top end cam that does not offer much torque, so I want something that is an all around performer, what do you guys think.

I'd say for what your looking to do the Ms3 is too big and you would be much happier with a smaller cam on the street.
most say a 228 is about the biggest all around street performer with decent street manners for a DD.
I'm running a 220/224 112lsa choppy idle with very good street manners.....a 228 should be good for about 15 more rwhp than mine.
are you an M6 or A4? if your an auto you'll need a stall
to get the most out of a cam I'd look into getting heads, or even port, polish and have your stock heads milled.......that combo sould make you happy

don't forget an oil pump, or atleast a new O-ring for your old one!
If you plan on changing your valve springs on the car, get one of the hand crank spring compressers and cut the crank wheel off of it, then take a 3/8" drive 15mm socket, slide it over the shaft and tack weld it in place.....this will make it alot easier to get to the rear valve springs

i picked up about 55hp with the torquer...as far as gas milage it went down a bit but it all depends on how your going to be driving...under a normal crusing tank of gas i get roughly 220 miles to a tank of gas...but with a tank used to race around town ect ill be getting 185-190 to a tank.
the power is amazing from the cam...if you do your research you'll find that almost everyone with the torquer loves the cam

like hi-po sead if you have the coin you should get the ported oil pump as you will be down to it any way. same goes for a ud pully. its a good idea to do the chain as so i got the good ls1 chain set tsp has its like $85.

LS2 is visibly thicker, wider then a LS1. Go with LS2 at the least.
