Shelby GT500
Theres a black SS running around that I see every now and then, but, I've yet to catch up to him to see whats done to it.
Bout 10mins ago I came up behind him on the highway, with a GT500 next to him. They were doing about 40-45mph. Figuring they were fixing to play, i tried getting my camera out. Right about the time I realized the memory card wasn't in it, they took off.
I'm figuring both started in 2nd. By the time they hit 3rd, SS was already pulling, HARD. Being in my work truck there was no way to keep up, but the SS had a solid 5-6 cars by the time they let out of it.
Just figured I'd share

Probably just driver error in the GT500 if both cars were stock. With drivers being equal and both hitting it at the same time there is no doubt in my mind the GT500 would win each time. Maybe the Camaro was an Auto and the GT500 didnt get the shift right, ya just never know.

dont sound like the GT500 driver was trying to hard ...

I just had a run versus a GT500. At one point I was 6 car lengths ahead of him. I'm certain it was driver error.
I'd think a bolt-on LS1 would be a good match for a stock GT500.

I've seen a few of these run at the local strip low 13s to high 12s. Not to hard to beat ( I'm not stock either)

I see a GT 500 racing a LS1 as a lose lose situation .. if you win you beat a car at least 7 years old .. and if you lose its drops the cars street worth .. I prob wouldn't put up a full effort ...

They dont run too fast on the E.T's but i think they runs atleast 115mph which isnt bad but should be better for the amount of power its pulling. The weight is a major issue with these cars and traction. I think on the highway the shelby should have no issues pulling on a LS1 even fully bolt on one unless the shelby owner is a really bad driver.

Yeah, i dont think ive ever seen a serious vette in this town....and its full of nice cars. i think one passed me a few weeks ago with an exhaust. even with all the Z06's..they just putter around.
Honestly, the most thing i see around here are Cobras, theres quite a few running around that look/sound like they mean business.

Ive seen only a couple of people in vettes that might bite if you pull up next to them but most really dont bother with you. Im sure they have good reasons and a few of which that come to mind. I know of one guy with a red vette a little modded with a stupid black rear spoiler kinda a lip spoiler who pulled up next to me a few weeks back. LOL, my wife was on patrol from get go, you betta not race him just let him go, hehe. He wouldve pulled either way but wouldve been nice to see how bad i wouldve lost either way. The other drives a black C6Z06 which i wouldnt even attempt to race with and nor would he bother to race me, that race wouldnt last more then 2 seconds before i say damn i got owned lol. Ahhh, i cant wait for nitrous.

I <3 Detroit. Car people everywhere. Modded vettes and racing too. Best race I've witnessed this summer was porsche 911 turbo vs the 600hp Viper. SOOOOO many c6's here too.

Look what I found; Edmunds.com claims the new GT500 is around 570HP on the crank on 91 ocatane gas... This new Shelby might be some competition...
