Thoughts on 2010 Grand Sport
http://www.c6registry.com/2010GS/index.htm
My thoughts: GM took the gloves off for this one. This could really help to ramp up sales of one of the most profitable cars GM offers. This Grand Sport would be an outstanding starting point for someone that can't afford a Z06 or doesn't want to buy a used Z. The LS3 is a kick ass motor, the track essential goodies are pretty sweet and finally the Z51 can stand out from the base car. Having said that, I think the wide body kit is over the top and should be reserved for the Z06 and ZR1.
Comparing a stock '09 Z51 with a '10 Grand Sport on a race circuit would be interesting.
I think that there might be a few but not considerable number of Z06 sales lost to the GS as some guys want the widebody look on a convertible or have the option to have an automatic. I'm sure you guys have seen some non Z06 cars with the widebody (some have the audacity to put the Z06 badges on... ).
At any rate I see the Z06 will still be considered the bad ass over the GS and I figure the more Corvettes on the road, the better. I hope GM sells a million.

If I wanted a brand new vette and couldnt afford a Z06 that would definitely be the one I would buy unless of course there is only a few thousand dollar difference.

blacker than wesleysnipes- 98' trans am
i like the idea..however as a sort of purest..i believe that the gs should only be offered in a coupe..and i am still in the air over the auto thing...the gs has always been a race-car for the street..but still could be raced in a road race and compete and beat regular vettes and its competition..so having a convertible and a auto transmission doesnt sit well with me..however they look amazing

Navy Blue Metallic- '00 Formy A4
Looks good, but I think it should get a slight bump in HP over the base Vette, say to the 450 level.
I also think it should be only offered in the blue and white color scheme of the C4 GS. When I think "GS", I think of those colors.

^Yeah, LeMans blue isn't even offered anymore. Jetstream Blue just doesn't cut it. LMB should at least be available for this car!
I agree with Shady, they should have called this car something other than the Grand Sport as this car does not seem to be a limited edition, having auto and convertible options is controversial with the purists. Perhaps the bean counters at GM are trying to exploit their own fabled history for a buck? Would they do that? lol.
Pricewise I bet this car will cost more than the Z51 it replaces but not near the Z06. My guess for the 1LT M6 targa is around $55K plus or minus.

Jetstream Blue Metallic- 2008 Z06 Corvette
Government Motors...oops, I mean General Motors is simply doing their best to capitalize on the GS nameplate, and the widebody look of the Z06/ZR1. By offering it with the Auto, and in a vert it will appeal to the widest possible audiance. I agree that they should have bumped the ponies a little for the extra $$$.
This car is not a true Grand Sport, we can all see that, it is simply a marketing ploy to help a fledgling Company.
It's a "Parts bin" car.
Would I buy one?
Maybe if I didn't own a Z06 and wanted to buy a Vert as my only Vette.

Shoulda done my homework before I greed with Shady...
I am not surprised to see this or something like it coming in late in the C6 product cycle. I'm still crossing my fingers for a Direct Injection LS3 before the C7 bows.

The best someone could do now is choose Jetstream Blue, get the white center stripe and the red hash marks. I hope there is a black wheel option! Should be a fun car to HPDE with. If it was my money, I'd just buy a gently used C6 Z06. LeMans Blue, black leather with competition gray wheels!
Oh and I'm spent...
