Gravana Tuning Hood
Does anyone have any experience with Gravana Tuning's ram air hood? I bought mine and it came in cracked at the hood scoop. I took it to the body shop and they told me that they can not fix it. Then I called a Vette specialist and they told me that it will cost a ton to fix it.
Any feedback on these guys would be greatly appreciated. I am kind of getting the run-around from them. I want my hood to be right. The hood also came in with some pretty crappy looking edges around the scoops. WTF

He said thier ram air hood...it's a clone of the 05/06 hood that GM helped them make the molds for.
...Gravana has had problems with hoods that get damaged for years. My Type-W is actually the second that they sent me. With me they had me return the original that had been damaged. ...they paid all shipping.

That sucks. The hood should have been packaged more securely for shipping IMO.

I agree. My hood came in a very simple cardboard box with some bubble wrap on the ends. The ends did not get damaged, but the scoops did (where the bubble wrap ended). Let me say this. I ordered a swim platform for my boat two years ago. It came in a wood coffin that was screwed together. It was 100% wrapped in bubble wrap then carpet. Then the box was filled with foam peanuts. Needless to say, the platform was perfect when it arrived. I also buy a lot of stereos and stuff online from Crutchfield. Their stuff comes in boxes filled with peanuts or the 'pour in place' foam. Never had a single issue with their stuff being damaged.
Gravana has offered to have it fixed, but I have my doubts on the repair. Here is a pic of the crack. Tell me what you guys think....

IMO you should shop around for a good price to fix that crack. How much was the initial estimate?

Ya. Shop around for a good shop who won't rip you off. All else fails...send the hood back for another one. Give them a note saying "PACK THE SH1T RIGHT NEXT TIME!!" Should work.

The tips are what usally get broken. This looks like the shipper laid the hood flat and piled something on it.

The other defects are in the actual scoop area. They arrived unfinished. Also, the right rear and left rear corners do not match.

When Gravana first starting having hoods made for our car they kept having to change fiberglassers...seems like their current one sucks. Kind of odd too since they have made hoods and other body parts for a lot of different cars. I'm guessing that the hoods are now comming directly from the fiberglassers and not from Gravana so they don't inspect them prior to shipping. ...still no reason for such poor work.

if it were me, i'd call the head guy or the closest to that that i could get on the phone, you shouldn't have to do that but actually, they should be able make a damage claim with the shipper to get it taken care of. how was it shipped? did you keep the original packaging? you need to take pics of everything, the damage spots, the packaging everything you can take a pic of for proof that it was damaged during shipment. Gravana SHOULD step up and take care of this right away.
I'm thinking twice now about making a purchase with them if this is the level of customer service that they have.

The first thing that I did was send them pics of the damage and poor finish. Then I sent them pics of the packaging. They are trying to get me to repair the hood rather than get me a new one that looks good. I am not trying to give them a hard time, but come on here. I have been waiting two months and this is the shit that I get. WTF Now they are telling me that it will take another 2-3 months to get a new hood.

did you put the hood on your charge card? Give them a reasonable time frame to get you taken care of and if it doesn't happen in that time frame file a complaint with the card company.

So I took the hood to the Vette shop today and they found more cracks. This thing was dropped. They quoted me around $400 to fix it. This sucks!
