ta top speed?
Ive had my 99 ta to 143 mph. I would like to push it farther but due to the horrible roads in michigan and the fear of a speeding ticket going that fast i dont know if i am going to.. How fast have you guys had your ta's? What is the actual top speed of them as well?

Pewter- 2000 Pontiac Trans Am
ive been 163ish. the speedo stops at 155 i think so im guestimating. if you get pulled over doing 100+ your probably going to jail. i think i read somewhere that fuel shutoff is at 168ish but motor wise we could probably run 175-185 in the m6's, not sure about the a4's since you loose some power through the torque converter. i dont think i was near my redline at 163 but its been a while since i ran it. ive got a lot of ticks and clanks coming either from the suspension or something else bangin around there so ive slowed it down to under 80 for now.

top speed is 168 but you will never know unless you whip out a gps.
Yes anything over 100+ your going to jail-so don't get caught.

When I got my HP Tuners, I removed the limiter, not that it mattered, I just could. It was set to 263kph stock, which I believe is actually 164mph.
I haven't been over about 140mph. I got pulled over at that speed and got off with a minor speeding ticket. I thanked my lucky stars, and don't do that in morning traffic anymore!

Actually depends on the Tranny and also your rear diff. Also horsepower comes into effect in a lower geared stick.

Popular Mechanics did a top end test at the Bonneville salt flats using a firebird with very low (numerically) gearing, skinny tires and a 383 built by Lingenfelter. If I remember correctly they got it up to 200mph when it flipped. They interviewed an engineer with GM who stated that the car has an aerodynamic instability issue above 200 and wants to swap ends. I couldn't find the original article but I did find this summary on the LPE website.
http://www.lingenfelter.com/vehicles...ats-firebird-2
PM also did an article in 2000 regarding a twin turbo Firebird that made it up to 307. That car looked more like a dragster than anything else but it did have a few production components.
