How Long Will It Last??
My bro came back from an ambulance call couple nights ago.(He's a paramedic). It was a horrible horrible downpour all day that day. He said the street he went through was flooded for a block like six inches deep. Curb height. He didn't realize it.
Driving a 99 taurus I want to say is the year, the model with those fucking circle bug headlights like the neon used to have. Well the air intake is in front of the one front tire. Fucking dumbass ford company.
I towed it home for him(not with my car). The air filter was soaking wet, the throttle body had sitting water in it. And surprisingly the maf sensor wires seemed unhurt! Amazing considering they glow red hot and that cold water drenched them.
Anyways, I dried it out in the garage for two days. Wouldn't start. So I sprayed a shit load of ether in it, nothing else worked so why not. It fired up! I had him kill it after five minutes because of a wierd noise it was making. I called a friend over and he insists it's a bent rod. The thing smokes like crazy now. I think the crank rusts everytime it sits. lol.
Anyways, how long can a car go with a bent rod? Long enough to drive 30 minutes to the junkyard maybe? He is going to town today with one of his friends to pick up a g6. So fixing it would be pointless.

i did the same thing to a 99 taurus back in the day. hydrolocked it.
and if your taking it to a junk yard, most will come get it for you, pick it up and haul it off, along with giving you a little money for it.

not for nothing but that car is like one out of well shit just about ever fwd car i've ever worked on that has an intake exposed one way or another to a front corner/fender. the airbox itself and the throttle body are more then high enough. The fact that the engine got hydrolocked has more to do with the asshat that drove through deep water then it does Ford

My airbox is approximately 2 feet off the ground. If I drive through 3 feet of water, will my car still be ok?

Actually... in hope of hydroplaning across the water so as to avoid the Ram Water effect.

Hmmmm. My Button "A" enganges my Weapon-X spark plugs, and Button "F" expands my MAF by 20%. Must be optioned different...

He was off duty. He was driving to the station because he heard the call go out. It was a downpour all day. I started it again for shits and giggles. Wouldn't believe how much it smokes.
My car with the air intake on the hood via my true ram air, I am safe. I've been in a torrential downpour on the interstate going 75mph passing semi's taking all that spray and still water didn't get passed my k&n, the beauty of an oiled air filter I guess, unlike those shitty dry air filters that some companies make.
