Hi Sarge, I've read all 40 pages of the oil discussions, and I have a question I don't think has been discussed. NAPA has their fully synthetic oil on sale for $2.99 till May 31,the bottle says made by Ashland Oil Co. What do you think/know about this product? If this is the same as Valvoline Synpower? Have you use it/tested it? O'Reilly has Pennzoil and Valvoline fully synthetic for $4.99 till May 19. Would one of these be better for my mostly stock Z28?

Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy
I just received my latest copy of Car and Driver. I am looking at a Mobil ad that claims "This advanced new motor oil can actually help give you 9 more miles per tank of gas". I wonder if it can improve my sex life as well.

Yeah...The CSL before RESTORE stands for Copper/Silver/Lead. It has small particles of those metals that are supposed to adhere to your cylinder walls and improve compression. Last resort type stuff. I aint putting it anything I own!

Judging by this Study of Automotive Gear Lubes, Torco makes a marginal gear lubricant.
FWIW, Torco places last on the ASTM D-4172 Four-Ball Wear Test.

Yeah it is funny how this internet thing works. Some guys at ls1gto.com used it and of course it suddenly turned into "the best gear oil" overnight cuz a few of them used it and reached their conclusion on butt dyno and their ears. I ran some and had it tested and frankly I may as well had WalMart SuperTech gear oil in there. Just sucked really bad. I only run Amsoil. Right now I have RedLine in there doing some testing for a RedLine dealer from the internet that ask real nice

Additive with Amsoil Gear Lube?
I just refilled my differential with Amsoil 75/90 Gear Lube, and I put in the limited slip additive as per GM instructions. Did I need to bother with the additive? It was $10 a tube.
