opinions on bumper paint

Im looking to paint the lower exhaust/license plate section of my TA black kinda like the 02 CETA cars. my question is, what is the best route for doing this? should i use gloss paint or flat? which would look the best on a white TA? i know it would come down to personal preference, but i was just wanting to get opinions first. i was thinking about doing this soon since i figured it wouldnt take long and its something to do. and besides that, what would be the best paint to use? i just like the way it looks and it'll give me something to do since im not doing the SOM on the whole car till next year.

CETAs were flat but the gloss look works well. I would pick up some duplicolor paint from autozone. I think one of them has a flex additive.

so its pretty much a spray paint? that sounds good to me. as long as it works. now its just a matter of flat or gloss...

If you have a gun you can do it that way too but if you take your time can will look just as good on a small panel.

also, whats the best way to get the best look? primer, 200 wet sand, then paint kinda thing?

200 is wayyyyy to rough.. I would 400, primer, 600 , then paint.

oh! ok. this is why i love this site. thanks man. hopefully it'll turn out. would putting a clear coat on be a good idea? or would it be ok by itself? im thinking if it was a flat black, then clearing it may make it more gloss or something.

Clear coat over flat would be kind of worthless

I would just go dupilcolor GM black then duplicolor clear.

Ok if you wanna do this the easy way go to a real paint store not a autozone. Get a can of SEM Trim Black say it on the can and adhesion promoter(duplicolor is fine) . Don't need to worry about primer with this paint. Wet sand it with 800 or 1000 is fine. If you go to autozone you can get the grey scuff pads which are even easier. Also picking up wax and grease remover will help it adhere easier.

Clean it. Wax and grease or if not soap and water.
Scuff or sand wet.
Clean it. Wax & grease remover is best for this. If not plain water works.
Tape and paper up the tips and rear of the car.
Adhesion Promoter 2 coats

Then SEM Black
Start with 2 light coats to start coverage.
then 2 med wet coats. you want a 25% overlap in spray pattern.
Be careful not to run it but it's best if you can cover it all before it starts drying. Minor Lines will usually disappear, they did on mine.No need for clear it stays nice like this.
I have had mine on the car for over a year and still looks new when i wash it.

Nope just tape and paper and turned the can slightly sideways. you can get in there pretty easy.
You can drop them if it makes it easier for you.
