Like the incomplete sentece "dear lord?"
and what's that? you ended a sentence with a preposition!!!!!!! DEAR LORD!!!!!!
You are infallible billy, except for the fact that you keep doing the exact same things that you are bitching about, only there is ALWAYS a good excuse why is ok for you to do it. I can use while as instead of whereas because I'm not the one botching about using words wrong etc. You just keep bitching and then doing the exact same thing you are bitching about. You just keep coming up with reasons why it sounds stupid for us to do it but it is genius when you do it. Yeah, you sure do make us feel dumb

I can't even find that usage on google ANWYEHERE!

You're a jackass billy, you are using things wrong when all you do is talk about other people's exact same incorrect use of words. I can and will continue to use anymore the way I feel like it, and I will still say while as (oh my that's unheard of!!!). Do you know why billy? It is because I am not the one starting threads about, and going on and on about, people using words the wrong way. My point is this, Stop doing the exact thing you are complaining about before you complain about it. You can try to push this off on me all you want to, but I am not the one acting all high and mighty about something, yet not living up to the standards that I so harshly judge other by. Swallow your e-pride billy

Neither is, "Oh no!", or "Look out!"
But your usage of "while as" is not correct no matter how you look at it.
Sorry buddy. And how about not stooping to childish name calling just because you can't prove me wrong or speak proper English.Last edited by BillyT; 03-03-2006 at 06:15 PM.

For a guy that thinks everyone needs to obey every language guideline ever established, you sure don't mind ignoring them yourself and then making excuses for why it is ok for you to do it when no one else can get away with anything at all. I don't care what excuses you can make billy, an incomplete sentence is NEVER grammatically correct. It may be socially acceptable, but it is in no way proper use of grammar. You aren't anywhere near as smart as you think you are if you can't even examine your own mistakes and see that you have been doing the same thing you are complaining about in this thread. At some point you should stop, listen, and learn something new rather than always knowing everything

Also, whether you want to believe it or not, sentence fragments are acceptable when used in spoken form which is exactly what this forum is. You and I are, in a sense, speaking to each other and people use sentence fragments in speech all the time. Such as "Hurray!!!", or "Ouch!!!". Your resistance to understanding that is pretty sad.
Maybe this will help you understand.
The Exception to the Fragment Rule: Fragments are not outlaws in three cases.
1. Fragments can be used in advertising for emphasis.
2. Authors use fragments in creative writing. Fragments imitate natural speech patterns. They can also become a part of a writer's style. Therefore, Margaret Atwood does not commit a grammar crime when she uses sentence fragments in her novels.
3. Fragments are acceptable in informal situations, such as personal letters and notes. A formal essay is not an informal situation.
Thank you! Come again! And, next time make sure you know what you're taking about, anymore!Last edited by BillyT; 03-03-2006 at 06:16 PM.
