Question about ASR
So Ive never really understood its purpose on our cars? Of course, its bassically traction control but it doesnt help you get off the line any quicker and it doesnt really help in the snow/rain. In fact, I turn the ASR OFF when Im in snow and I rely on good clutch control and propper gearing to get through the snow. Has anyone really seen a need for this?

The last thing you want to do is have Traction Control on at a drag strip or a street race. Its just supposed to help out if your wheels loose traction or slip.

ASR= Acceleration Slip Recovery, basically it applies brake and throttle control soyou dont lose the back end...def take it off at the track!

Yep, I can definately tell you it works, tried doing a donut with it on once...I looked pretty damn dumb.
Oh and forgetting to kill it at the track makes you look pretty stupid too.

The one time it did help me was when i was going around a turn on a highway during a rainy day.
I had the gas pedal pressed and the back end started to get loose, before i could even move my foot the car took over and i was right back on the road where i was supposed to be.
Otherwise it has no real benifit.

ASR is like ABS. If you know what you are doing, you can stop quicker without ABS. If you know what you are doing, you can control wheel spin quicker than ASR; however, if you don't know what you are doing both of these things can help protect you. Since most drivers fall in the latter category, they are probably better off with both these systems.
