I just don't get how people can watch national news TV and don't even notice that they don't speak the same way the announcer who speaks Standard English does.

You would never hear that use of "Anymore" on CNN, just as you wouldn't here the announcer saying he's "fixin'" to give "ya'll" a weather update, nor would he "Axe" the meteorologist if it's going to rain Cats and "Dawgs".

    Now I've heard it all

You're right. It would be better to say I speak perfectly spoken ghetto English the same as you'd hear on MTV.

Better? Or should it be the Grand Ole Opry?

Edit: Do you actually think there's something wrong with that sentence other than maybe a missed comma or that "Standard" should be capitalized?

Oh, I don't know. I think each region of this great country is defined by many things not found in other areas, including accents,language,etc..

I personally think that anchor newsmen sound a little uptight to me. I'll stick with my "pak the cah in havad yad" accent. Just as people from the south will stick with y'all, and the list goes on.

Hearing someones accent defines who they are, where they are from. I think it's kind of cool.

I also thought "Anchorman:The legend of Ron Burgandy"sucked! Maybe sounding like a stuck up jack ass know-it-all was what ruined it for me

    Everyone uses the word anymore.

It's the use of it in the positive that's uncommon and regional.

At least according to the dictionary.

By the way, I think that with that usage that it's supposed to be "any more".

I don't call it. Just heard it. Guess they call em the same as everyone else. Too clarify for you, that would be African American for the African Americans,
"Springerites" for the white trash wannabe's. Or simply white trash. I have heard "hood rat" tossed around a bit, although this one comes from the actual African Americans themselves.

To put your mind at ease, not to many folks drop the "N" bomb nowadays. It's considered bad form.
