XP is great. Vista, not so great.... hopefully the next update will be better.
I'd never consider buying a mac.

Vista was created that way to push everyone to upgrade all
the old software... and some hardware!
I still think XP Pro is safer and much more flexible.
By all new shit and Vista is fine!!!

Current best: 10.60/126.8- 1998 Pontiac TA WS6
My laptop has Vista, but my desktop has XP. I hated Vista at first until I bumped my RAM up on my laptop, then it ran fine. What I am starting to find out is the newer software isn't as compatible with XP as Vista. Such as iTunes, I downloaded it to my desktop with XP and it wouldn't run. That may also be because I am a couple of SP's behind. But the new ITunes worked great on my laptop with Vista.

Look at this. http://news.softpedia.com/news/Micro...st-63069.shtml
I will say that linux can be more secure because the users that use linux are normally smart enough to know how to avoid getting virus.

I have found over the years that it's not a matter of "if" WIN will crash. But more a matter of "when" WIN will crash. Sooner or later all versions will crash. Just my observations since way back to WIN95.. Something always happens and you'll either have to repair it or reinstall. For me I do a full HD format and clean install about every two or three months. Nothing can stop every virus. Some folks have viruses and dont even know it. Clean reboot every so often is just what I do to maintain my comp. May seem usless to some but I dont mind doing it.

blacker than wesleysnipes- 98' trans am
that is a very good habit to do...i will agree with windows crashing a good amount..but half of the reason for that is the universality of the OS ..to be completely open and flexible with any hardware..and on top of that..most BSOD or crash is directly related to 3rd party drivers..since Microsoft also lets hardware vendors create and distribute their own drivers..mac osX doesnt..but l/unix does..my girlfriend has a mac..and its a solid machine..it has the new intel framework and runs really fast..but maintenance is sooo hard on osx since everything is hidden away..and now the osx was soo corrupt that is was freezing quite a bit and had to install leopard..so far so good. but give me Windows for give me death...i can deal with linux/unix (i need to for my job) but id rather run W server 08
