    leaking pan gasket

My pan gasket is leaking and needs replaced. Is this a problem with high mileage cars (124,000), or is something else going on to making the gasket to fail?

are you sure its the pan and not rear main seal or front seal? if the pan is leaking youll need to drop the cradle and support the motor by the strut towers

yes, I took it to a shop and got it up in the air to look at it. We thought it would be the rear main, but the leak is around the pan and blowing on the cats. So I didn't know if something would of went wrong to make the gasket to go, or if it just failed. Anyway you look at it it's not going to be cheap!

crank case pressure would cause a seal to startleaking randomly. its not like old days where they used cork

Anyway to lower the pressure? I don't want to replace it again. I started smelling bunt oil after a good hard drive in the country.
