    crap gm paint

Couple summers ago the clear coat was flaking off of my bumper so I had my whole bumper re-painted looks great, now under my front drivers side fender by the wheel my clear coat is starting to flake off, now I gotta repaint that ::its not that bad just a small spot but annoys me:: WTF is up with this by buddy's formula had the same thing happen on his fender, can this be preventable or is this just due to crappy paint? btw my car has never seen snow, salt and rarely rain so I know its not due to the elements, anyone else know what I'm talking about???

hate to say it but you will probably find more spots over time. with the VOC requirements for paint changing over the years the window from primer to paint got very small. if the paint wasn't applied in that window the primer to paint or base to clear adhesion suffered which causes your problem.......you can thank the EPA for that

Peeling clear coat starts with one small chip and then it gets bigger over time. The longer you procrastinate, the worse it will get. About the only thing you can do is get a little bottle of clear coat w/ the brush from an autoparts store and apply it to the peeling areas.

It's easy answer. GM sucks at painting their cars, vans, suvs, and trucks. For years I have seen many different GM's from all brands with the same problems. Clear or sometimes even the base flaking off the cars. Doesn't help that the fenders aren't steel and their is alot more prep that hasto be done to make the paint stick.
