Kansas City, Kansas??
Well now it looks like the only position open in my company is in Kansas City, Kansas.........the plant I work at now just shut down.....so I dont have much of a choice. I guess I am looking for some feedback from people who have been there or live in that area....I would be a private contractor at the GM plant there. How is the area, how are the people, cost of living? Stuff like that...oh yeah and is it like in the middle of f-nowhere. If I go I dont want to live right in the city..so I would move just outside....

One of the best steaks I've ever had was at Hereford House in Kansas City.
Also, the city struck me as incredibly clean, at least compared to Atlanta.

I partied in KC once. Went to some sort of open plaza that was surrounded by bars and had a jumbotron playing the Texas vs Texas Tech football game. Seems like a great city.

I was born in Shawnee Mission and lived in KC, KS for a while as well as Wichita as a kid. KC is a nice town. The KS side, especially Overland Park, has some very nice/pricey areas with clean, safe neighborhoods.
My mom lives in a highrise loft downtown and loves it. It's got a great downtown urban thing going on with lots of nightlife, a good farmer's market, etc.

very well put. i was born in Shawnee Mission, and then moved to Overland Park in 1988.
the revitalization they have going on Downtown with the lofts, Union Station, Crown Center and the Plaza make for a fun city. With Westport just down the road, great bars and clubs as well.

Celestial Blue Mica- 2010 Mazda 3 Hatchback
I'm in Overland Park. Cost of living is pretty nice. The town is VERY spread out so there are many places to choose from and the drive will not be bad. Most folks just laugh when we say rush hour, nothing at all like the bigger cities.
Sure you will enjoy it. Snow tires come in handy for sure, second set of rims with them mounted helps. Does not snow a ton but when it does you don't move far in RWD.
