Black/purple- 1998 Pontiac Trans Am WS6
SES light on after normal idle for about 30 min.
I went to the car wash last night, along with everyone else since today was to be a nice day. Needless to say, there was a long wait so I sat in neutral, car idling for about 30 min. After we pushed the lady out of the auto wash because her car wouldn't start (nice!), I go back to my car and my SES light is on.
Any idea why this would happen? It's still on this morning. Car is not running any differently. I guess I might need to run by Autozone for a check?

Got code from AutoZone
P1416 - did a search and it seems like an easy fix. Guess I'll head back to autozone for the part. Funny thing though, they won't clear the code for me... so will the SES light go out once the valve is replaced or do I need to go somewhere else?

Also, was it just a coincidence that the light came on because I was idling so long, or would it have probably happened anyway?

that's a stuck air valve.....$20 and easy. They won't clear codes sometimes do to liability. Just have them hook up and read the code then turn their head while you push the clear code button. It would've thrown that code eventually anyhow.

The SES for P1416 will turn off by itself after 3 consecutive air test cycles without a failure, but will stay in "history" for 40 cycles.
