I'm in Charlotte, NC...roughly 2 hrs north of Greer if I remember right.
It's a suburb town of Greenville.
Greenville itself isn't too bad (aside from Bob Jones University), it isn't the biggest city in the world, but there's plenty to do.
Greer however, is more or less that small southern town full of grumpy old people and minorities. Not a bad place, but wouldn't be my first choice to live either. But I really don't know the area extremely well...have passed through it enough, but rarely stopped for more than just to get gas.

I know exactly where Greer is.
Why the hell would you voluntarily move there?

If you know anything about Greenville its the fact that it is the farthest thing from typical southern. Probably 1 out of ever 3 people you meet are from the north or west. It is far from redneck. Yes there are towns around that are very backwoods-fuck-your-sister's-mom but even Greer is big enough that part of Pelham Rd is considered Greer but its basically in the city.

is there interesting stuff to do around there? or is it boring a shit? Also is it in the middle of no where or is there your typical big malls, best buys, etc around? how is it down there for racing, and the LS1 building market

There's a couple malls in Greenville, as well as your usual shopping center setups. It's not a dead town. No drag strip though, closest 1/8th mi is probably Rockingham. 1/4 mi is either Charlotte or Atlanta. Not sure about speed shops, got a few friends down there but none are car people. 3 or 4 decent F-body/vette shops 2 hrs up the road here in Charlotte though.

Might as well come down to MB, always something to do, big car scene, few speed shops, have an 1/8 local strip thats open every now and then and we are 1.5 hours from 1/4 strip in darlington.

Well, Greer is more or less that small southern town full of grumpy old people and minorities. Not a bad place, but wouldn't be my first choice to live either. But I really don't know the area extremely well...have passed through it enough, but rarely stopped for more than just to get gas.

Greer is just another town in a chain of towns surrounding Greenville, you have several smaller towns that are nice and only 10 minutes away. I live in Simpsonville and it's great. I love it here. Mauldin is also close and has some nice areas but the cops are assholes.

i have a house in clemson and simpsonville, and he is right as rain about the cops..http://www.ls1.com/forums/images/smilies/ar.gif... my office is in greer. and that town is pretty dead. taxes are low for property. but you would be close enough to many other towns like everyone else has said. simpsonville use be the #1 growing city in the country at one time. good priced homes in greer. nice and quiet most of it. where in simpsonville do you live... i don't see a whole ton of us around. if you been here long you know we went threw a big ricer deal around, but don't see much of them around any more.

I'm over in the Five Forks area off of Woodruff Rd. After living in Fayetteville NC and Atlanta I'm not ever moving again. The funny thing about Greenville is it's the only town where nobody is ever from, everyone you meet is from somewhere else. I've lived here 11 years now and it has really blown up, back in 97 nothing was open after 9 at night and Woodruff Rd was the country.
