Cam swap
I am planning on doing a Cam swap with ls6 heads. I just bought patriot gold springs. I know I should replace my oil pump, timing chain, possibly get a under drive pulley. Is there anything that I am forgetting, chromolly push rods/ hardend push rods, is there anything that I am missing?
Thanks in advance

If the heads are coming off, I'd upgrade the lifters. Also look for a good deal on roller rockers.

Ever time I've looked at roller rockers they are expensive. What kind of lifters, LS-7 lifters?

I'm an EBay junkie !!! I look for bargains ! I'm running the Comp Cam 850's now, and I've heard good on the LS7's , but haven't tried them.

The nice thing about he LS-7 is that they are not that expensive. But the last time I looked was about 8 months ago.
Edit- They are $143 now on WS6storeLast edited by goldz28; 01-17-2009 at 07:58 AM.

I just got done with this swap, Do your self a Favor and get a new Oil Pump O ring while you've got it torn down!!!!! I didnt and was having oil psi issues and drivetrain noises and the o ring was the cause. I had to practically pull everything apart again!!!!

Good Point ! When I tore down my old motor, the O-ring was broke... Still showed good presure, but it will cause oil foaming issues...
Uhmm... Wonder if that's what's wrong with my dogs....

when we did my cam swap I pulled the heads and ported and polished them (241 castings) I got a lot of metal out and really opened them up, it made a huge difference. so if the heads you are getting are stock castings I'd say port them before you bolt them on.
there are a few spots where the water jackets are very close to the runners so you havr to watch what your doing. Bill (bills98ta) brought me a piece of a head cut through the intake runner on one side and cut through the exhaust runner on the other side, so I could see just how far to go on everything. if Bill reminds me I'll get some good picks and post them for everyone before I return it
