What the heck is going on with my outlets...?

This is annoying. I noticed this about a month ago. The furnace went out anyways in the living room there was a portable heater plug in the living room. Anyways one wall in my bedroom has a surge protector with my alarm clock/laptop/cell phone charger/paper shredder plugged in. Well when my g/f plugged in her laptop in the adjacent wall outlet then unplugged it later on it made all power to the surge protector go out on my one wall (evident when the alarm clock went out). So grr... I some how remedied it by replugging in her laptop and it worked after several attempts of unplugging the surge protector and so on...

Anyways that was a month ago and we forgot about that outlet possibly being messed up and she plugged something else in it and when she unplug it the same thing happened no power.....And now plugging something new in it, unplugging combos i've tried and nothing only way it works (wall with the surge protector) is if something is plugged in it...

Ideas? This is pissing me off. I've tried flicking on and off the breaker. So here I am...

Replace the outlet that is giving you problems might be a good start. They are like $2 at the hardware store.

Call an electrician. It sounds like there might be a loose or broken wire in the wall. Potential fire hazards are not good.

Get it looked at ASAP, loose / bad connections start fires.

My guess would be a bad connection/outlet. Probably the power (black wire) side because if was a neutral (white wire) you'd be having issues with other things on that curcuit. It's easy to replace yourself, just make sure the power is off and doublecheck with a meter.

Before I called an electrician, I would pop out that receptacle and take a look at it. Like most people have said, you may just have a loose wire which should be evident from looking at the receptacle. I don't think your house is in imminent danger of burning down, but loose connections will continue to arc overtime and heat up which can damage the receptacle or the wire sheathing.
