Any ideas on FM Transmitters....
Ok so I want to have mp3 functionality in my 06 GTO, but dont want to replace the factory H/U, so Im thinking on of those transmitters that I can plug into my mp3 player and broadcast to an FM station. My question is.... have any of you tried and had a positive experience with any of these? I know a hard-wired solution would be best for sound quality, but Im looking for something quick and easy as a bridge until I replace all the electronics. Any help is greatly appreciated!

i got one at walmart that holds and charges my ipod, the only issues i found are if i have it tuned to a channel that has content or if a vehicle with another transmitter on the same freq gets to close. but it cost me like 80 dolars

The best fm transmitter would be one that is actually plugged inline with the antenna wire on the back of the radio.

is it an ipod? cuz i bought the ipod interface from best buy. awesome, easy install. its a little pricey, but so are the nice fm transmitters. plus, i still have the function of the scroll wheel, which you lose on a lot of pioneer/alpines. and, you can change the song with your seek buttons on the factory head unit. best interface ive seen for a gm. just plugs into you factory harness behind the radio. 30min install at most. no cutting or splicing wires. ill try and post pics.
and actually looking at it a little closer, its compatible with all 3.5mm headphone jacks, so it will work for any mp3 player, just make sure you get the one for GMs.

Its not an iPod (I hate those things) Its just a cellphone with the built in MP3 player. mpfranks, thats a beautiful idea. Thanks for the help everyone. Now all I need is to figure out what kind of sub to install.... another thread for another day, I believe.

Silver- 2003 GTI 1.8T :(
been through two fm transmitters and both went kerplunk... just not going to be great quality ever... so im investing in this
alpine ida-x100
does not play cd's but it goes directly to your ipod, plays videos on the screen and controls and charges the ipod through the deck only so you can stuff the mp3 player in the glove compartment. it also puts out really good sound. 50x4 watts or w.e it is... im not good with technical stuff but its around 300 at best buy... a little bit more pricey but it is going to be the clearest sound you will get from your ipod and a good experience for music overall

well personally i dont like after market head units for our cars, they look out of place. and i dont see the point if you dont have a system. and the ipod interface is perfect sound, its wired through your factory harness, its not an fm transmitter. plus, if you have a lot of songs like it do, i need the scroll wheel function on the ipod, searching through thousands of songs on your head unit s a waste of time in my opinion. however, that is one of the nicer head units ive seen.

yeah i know what you mean, i dont drive an fbody anymore and i have been told that mine will only work with fm transmitter or new h/u so i dont really have another option... i love the sound my stock unit makes... its a monsoon in a tiny gti so it sounds amazinggggg... but hopefully this puts out just as well... and i have my ipod meticulously organized in playlists so it is not hard at all to go through my ten thousand songs on it
