Mine is a custom grind that is offered by Vengeance. If I remember it right they call it the VRx3 which is 226/228 .585/.588 lsa 112 (+4). One of the things I liked about ordering from Vengeance is that I could really pick which cam I wanted, you get quite a few options. At first I was going to get a custom cam straight from Comp Cams, but Vengeance had exactly what i wanted so and just made the process a little easier.

And this is me running through a couple gears, it's an awesome cam for a milder cam. i mean i put the back end out in second in this video without even trying. i'll try and get hold of the dyno graph and see if the guys at vengeance still have it.

I think you have inspired me next week after the 9" gets put in I might have to make a video with an in car camera

Bottesini do it! just make sure borrow a really good camera so you get good sound out of it. I love how it included all details of the sounds

Hey and what gear are you puttin in your 9", i kinda want new gears in the future but i'm not sure what i want. Could you let me know if you do post a video of it?

4.11s With a six speed cruising in sixth does not change but a few 100 RPM. Everything lower you just use a higher gear, so as a DD as long as you have a M6 you can easily get away with it.

The 228R is a great cam. I personally like a little more exhaust then intake with stock heads, but it is a proven strong DD cam.

you HAVE to replace springs with that cam cause the lift is .588/588 X-ER lobes. Just get the whole cam kit and save a few $$ Something like a Comp 918 (beehive) spring will work fine or you can run PP/PRC duals for that matter.

You can get a different LSA, the 112 does not bother me once the car is warm. On a cold start it has a little trouble finding idle, but I have never been able to leave it with a tuner long enough for them to get a good cold start tune.

When I did the cam swap put in new LS6 ported oil pump and a LS2 timing chain since the car has 120k+ at that point. You will need new springs. I went with the Patriot Golds since they are a good spring and you get the titanium stuff as well for only about 255 total, not to mention I rather have just a little more security with my springs, especially since the car usually sees 1000 miles a month.

Here is the chart that shows what the cam only swap did. Typically I shift at 6500 (on the tach) when I am racing seriously.

The top line is with the cam and bottom is without (shows both RWTQ and RWHP). I got nothing but gains everywhere over the stocker. I think with a 114 LSA my cam would be very tame as long as you have a good tune.

actually leaning toward 224/224, 224/228, or 228/228, just don't want to overrun my stall

I think you will be fine with any of those cams, and they are all proven performers (though I do prefer more on the exhaust side than the intake). I am by no means an stall expert, but I am sure there are others here that know them better then I.

I could just go with a higher stall, but I noticed a big difference with this on over stock and like where it slips/hits. for what I want to do with the car I think a bigger stall hitting harder would cut down on twisty back road fun time.
after the cam, about the only thing I plan on doing for is pickingup a set of stock 243s, porting/polishing them myself and nothing else for awhile.

Okay so ive decided to go with the Vrx4 cam from vengeance racing. 228/230 .588/.592 112 LSA. 1900-6700 RPM Power Band. Im going to upgrade my valvesprings and pushrods along with the cam swap. Decided on Comp 928 springs and just need a little help on choosing pushrods. The lengths go from 7.350-7.500. Supporting Mods are LT Headers, Catted Y Pipe (no mufflers), CAI, upgraded clutch and pro 5.0.

Good choice, if I did not put so many miles on the Camaro every day I would probably have gotten something very close to that. What I have is not that far off. Call Vengeance up, ask them what pushrod they recommend. Personally, I am running the stockers, since I would rather bend a push rod, than keep the valve open. The only real reason I would change my pushrods is if I need a different length to get the proper geometry.
